I love this show. Joe Martin seems like a genuine, humble, all around great guy and watching Joe and his guys save good old American Detroit steel into modern works of art is addictive. It's so refreshing to see an enormously talented guy and the integrity he puts into his work while remaining so humble and honest. Unlike the other popular reality TV car show that takes place in Texas, the one with that obnoxious, loud mouth, nauseating used car salesman on Discovery Channel, it's obvious Joe and his crew build every car as if it were their own and they never fail to impress.
And who doesn't love his gorgeous wife Amanda. She's hilarious, her laugh is contagious, and her enthusiasm about cars really livens things up. Shag seems like a nice guy but sometimes I wonder why he's on the show. Amanda determines the "bottom line" anyway when buying parts or the next project, and IMHO, she can handle herself. Besides, most car guys love beautiful women almost as much as their own cars (lol) and she always has the sellers eating out of her hand with her charm and charisma. Who knows, without Shag around, they might just give her the parts. (And I love watching her crush cars) LOL
Seriously, great show, and if I'm ever fortunate enough to build my dream car, it'll either be Joe Martin or Dave Kindig (Bitchin Rides).
The only negative comment is the editing. Too much time spent on the practical jokes. While a little fun and humor certainly adds to the show, I'd rather see more builds or flips each season than Pompa running away from rattlesnakes. Watching Joe air brushing on "fake chrome" trim, Shorty's remarkable painting skills, Cato's upholstery, the amazing metal work and fabrication, are far more entertaining to me. And Mike's compulsive complaining gets old so a little advice to the editors...more cars, more builds, more flips! And more episodes....PLEASE!
