ISHQ is the story of Sachi and Vasudha, two young lovers who went for a romantic interlude one night. During the journey, how fate plays spoilsport and how a normal journey can turn into terror and what impact that incident stamps on their life forms the crux of the story. The movie deals with the issue of moral policing which is rampant in present day India.

Good Acting!

The song 'Parayuvaan,' by Sid Sriram enticed me to watch this move. The song scenes did not disappoint me as it very nicely photographed and song is very catchy. This is an Indian Malayalam-language categorized as "romantic thriller" film written by Ratheesh Ravi and directed by Anuraj ManoharI. Amazon video provides "English subtitles" which are present for non-Malayalam speaking viewers such as me.

The movie does clearly state "not a love story" in its tagline and although it is a "love story" between two young couple in the very beginning but the movie morphs into a long dragging sequence of events which happens during a late night long drive and it starts to glimpse into the cheap kind of moral policing that most people are constantly subjected to on the streets of India.

I must admit the video quality was excellent. Actress Ann Sheetal plays the role of Vasudha, Actor Shane Nigam plays the role of Sachi. Two young couple meeting & engaging in a night out & long drive. I must admit both the main characters in the movie did good acting but the lack of diversity in story-line of movie and the level of nitty gritty details depicted in the movie followed by forced me to skip the rest of the movie. Although the movie might be okay for people who enjoy such events but for me it was not enough interest left once second half unfolded on screen.

Rating the movie with three stars!

Malloo movies champion social awareness, here's another one!

Not your average hero-lover-villain movie but a well crafted story that addresses an important social phenomenon that plagues India. The movie could have been tighter paced but once you get past the urge to fast-forward, you will recognize that the deliberations serve to intensify all kinds of viewer emotions. The actors are well cast and impressive. The director does a decent job of bringing it all together.

Vigilante justice is a dangerous message to propagate in a country like India; social awareness, law and order, should instead rise to a level of sophistication capable of addressing individual freedom. The movie does little to advance that concept but then, stories are not necessarily all about morals and justice. I have noticed that malayalam movies have no qualms about breaking convention. Here is another one that doesn't think twice about giving the audience, the bird!

Not a Love story but a lesson on Moral Police!
Verified purchase
This movie poked my interest with just the tagline "Not a Love Story". The subject of moral policing is so misunderstood in India that very few take the time to understand who they and what their true intentions are. Hats off to the director for taking these subjects by its horn and delivering on both fronts. These people are not limited to any one religion, caste or creed and their intentions are far more sinister than what is visible to the naked eye. Another often forgotten subject is the consequence of such an event on the girl and her moral dilemma, while the boy takes revenge on the bad guys. The director delivers on this front too. An excellent story and a must watch!

A slap in the face of the "moral police" AND toxic masculinity
Verified purchase
It was indeed a tight rope walk for the director to stay away from the typical male hero triumphing in the end, after single handedly overpowering the villain. There are no "heroes" in this movie! One of the best malayalam movies I have seen in the recent past!

Started with some promise but ends up as a big drag. Story starts from moral policing and shifts to feminist agenda where men are demonized. Not even one male character in this movie is a good person. Little surprised to see the characterization of the protagonist. Transition from fun, innocent to psychopath goes to show that movie wants to earn sympathy on showing female as victim. Very weird writing in some places makes it hard to connect with characters.

Respect to the film makers and Malayalam Film Industry

A movie that made me sit tight till the end. With growing moral policing and mob lynching in India, the life of a common man has become a nightmare. The morons don't stop with policing. They physically and sexually abuse our women. This movie reflects the society we are building. If we don't realize and react to it then there will be a time where one's own family members will become victims. It has become so common after BJP came into power in 2014. Please, I am neither Congress supporter nor anti-Indian.

Outstanding movie. Love the simplicity and severity of the concept. A movie which is .LST wanted, indeed!!

Happy to see that there's a movie of this kind.

Thanks for making it. If someone could visualize their broken legs and get a life. That would be the greatest success of this movie.

Fantastic acting by everyone.
