One of Bustle's Best New Books of July 2021
With his passion for romance novels, it was only a matter of time before Vlad wrote one.
Elena Konnikova has lived her entire adult life in the shadows. As the daughter of a Russian journalist who mysteriously disappeared, she escaped danger the only way she knew how: She married her childhood friend, Vladimir, and moved to the United States, where he is a professional hockey player in Nashville.
Vlad, a.k.a. the Russian, thought he could be content with his marriage of convenience. But it’s become too difficult to continue in a one-sided relationship. He joined the Bromance Book Club to learn how to make his wife love him, but all he’s learned is that he deserves more. He’s ready to create his own sweeping romance - both on and off the page.
The bros are unwilling to let Vlad forgo true love - and this time they’re not operating solo. They join forces with Vlad’s neighbors, a group of meddling widows who call themselves the Loners. But just when things finally look promising, Elena’s past life intrudes and their happily ever after is cast into doubt.

This remains one of the best series that I keep kicking myself for not reading sooner. Each book adds something new and great, and this one is no exception! In previous stories, the book club will read a romance story, but here they actually help Vladimir work through his romantic ennui by helping him to write his own romance novel. The friendship that the club continues to build with its members is just awesome, and many recurring characters return, along with bringing in the new Loners, a couple of previously married women. A central theme of this series is that masculinity is defined by more than trite phrases like, "Man up!" or "Be a man!", and I appreciate that it's examined from many different angles as these stories continue being told.
This story is my second favorite in the series so far, nearly tied with the first story. I couldn't get enough of it, which is part of why I think the ending felt a little abrupt, and I wanted more questions answered at the end to wrap things up nice and tidy. However, I imagine there will be another entry in this series, and maybe some questions will be answered then. I'm hoping the next story will be about Colton! Isn't It Bromantic? is another heartwarming, soul-searching, stereotype-breaking winner from Lyssa Kay Adams, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to readers who like to see men step outside their comfort zone for the sake of love, who enjoy stories where characters must confront their internal struggles in tandem with the plot, and who like to see groups that support each other when the going gets tough. Keep the bromance going!
4.5 ⭐
Our favorite bookclub is back! This time they need to fix our favorite friend Vlad, aka the Russian. When his wife of convenience decides she wants a divorce, Vlad is heartbroken. While each of them feels that the other doesn’t have real feelings for them, deep down they are both struggling. With the bookclub and the local group of widows, can they bring Vlad and Elena back together?
This line. Everything about this line! It spoke to me so hard. Throughout this series, Vlad was always the fun loving, goofy, bathroom issue having, athlete. This book quickly dove into his absolutely adorable, teddy bear, softer side. I loved both him and Elena so damn much and I wanted to smack them both and just shove them together! This one was probably my favorite of the series. I seriously could not love Vlad more. It’s also getting fun to guess who the next book will be about while reading! My guess is Colton and I think I may know his love interest too! If you have loved our bookclub bros, you will fall head over heals for our favorite Russians story!
If you have been following this series you know that the Russia is the heart and soul of the bromance book club. I am so glad that Lyssa decided to write his story when she was originally not going to do so.
The Russian gets hurt and his estranged wife comes to help take care of him. Of course they both have to get over them selves, but he has the help of his book club and she gets friends for the first time. The ending was everything I wanted it to be and I want this series to continue as I love seeing the softer side of the men.
The friendship that the men have with each other is incredible and I find myself longing for a friendship group just like that.
Why? Because I love the Russian. He’s been one of my favorite characters since I started the series, but his book now makes him my number one favorite. He’s just a huge cheese loving softy who lets random neighborhood pets into his home… How could I not love him?!
Now. We need Cheese Man’s story

.
Vlad or "The Russian" as us Book Club fans affectionately know him as, has finally got his instalment in the series and I lapped it up
.
Those who have read the other books in the series will know that The Russian has been a main character since book one. Often the butt (pardon the pun) of everyone's jokes due to his unfortunate digestive issues, I was desperate for him to get his own book so we could see and learn more about him
.
His story was brilliant and nothing like I thought it would be. A mix of marriage of convenience, childhood friends to lovers and one hell of a slow burn, Vlad really is THE sweetest hero of the Book Club so far and you can't help but fall in love with Elena too. As always time spent with these guys is an absolute hoot, the banter game is still strong and some of the one liners had me in absolute hysterics. I could even go as far to say this is my favourite along with book one
.
I really hope this isn't the end of the bookclub because I'm seriously hoping we get a Colton Wheeler book because...well we NEED it. Who's with me bookclub fans?

I don't know if it was the knowledge he's gotten over some of his tummy troubles or it was empathy for Colton as he suffered some of his own gastric issues but something immediately set Vlad apart from the comedic side character crown he'd earned himself in the first 3 books. It could also have had something to do with getting more than 3 words at a time
As always with this series Lyssa manages to weave such a beautiful love story between the Bromance Bookclub as she does the main characters. The camaraderie and genuine friendship between these men was exquisite. From their genuine concern to the unwavering support, I could read about this group of men forever.
You absolutely got your monies worth with this one. There's so much story. Even when I thought it was getting tied up and coming to an end then suddenly I still had 20% to go and there was still so much more story to come.
This series as whole has been such an enjoyable, easy read. Anyone who's thinking of reading: DO IT!

Vlad and Elena have been married for 6 years, but it has only ever been a marriage of convenience - despite the fact that they both secretly wish it was more.
These characters are wonderful and I love each and every one of them. The men in the book club are so brilliantly supportive and I started to miss them the moment I finished the book! Five stars for this sweet, sexy, funny read.
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Is this to be the last of the book club ???
