Product description

Color:Black  |  Style:Regular

Say hello to a new tradition in high chairs. High chair trays are hard to use. The Nook uses a swing-open tray to simplify mealtime. This fantastic high chair features a large swing-open tray that operates with one-hand. Without having to use two hands or line up cumbersome rails, mom or dad can easily hold their child while operating the tray. There is no need to remove dishes from the tray before taking the child out of the chair. Simply swing the tray open, unbuckle your child and off you go to the next task. This feature helps keep your kitchen counter clear. Folding and storing the high chair in the pantry or kitchen nook will make your kitchen feel more spacious. High chairs have gotten bulkier and less kitchen friendly. With the Nook's ability to fold like a beach chair, it opens up new opportunities for use at picnics, camping, friend's homes, and at the grandparents. Bringing the baby to meals anywhere has never been easier. We know how important it is for parents to having tray adjustability. Keeping food on the tray and off the child's lap is essential. The new Nook has a tray with four depth adjustments to accommodate your child as they grow. Many high chairs lack a big enough seat. The Nook is a roomy, full-size, high chair with an exceptional padded leatherette seat that accommodates a child up to 50 lbs. The leatherette material makes it is easy to wipe down. The Nook comes fully assembled and is ready to go, out of the box.

1.0 out of 5 stars IT CANNOT BE CLEANED AND I WANT TO LIGHT IT ON FIRE
By Andrew queirolo on April 3, 2018
Agree with any review that says this thing is a beast to clean. The straps are hard screwed into the frame and impossible to remove, so the filthiest part, the straps that cover the baby’s chest, cannot be removed or thrown into the wash. I have tried hand washing and “wiping down” the seat and straps like the manufacturer suggested and it’s not only impossible to get it clean, re-wetting the baby food on the straps just makes the mess even worse. I’m about to take it into my backyard and hose it off. It’s a beautiful design but the degree of difficulty to clean it outweighs everything. How attractive can a baby chair be when it’s caked in baby food that you cannot remove? I hate this chair. Whoever designed this chair not only doesn’t have children, they probably don’t have a mother either because they were probably sired and left on this planet by some unholy entity, dropped by a pterodactyl onto some third rate university campus where they engineered this product specifically to crush the spirit of millions of parents.

1.0 out of 5 stars UPDATE: 5 Stars to 1 Star. Good design But Really Poor Durability
By Memly on October 25, 2016
UPDATE: One major gripe with the Joovy company and all their products in general is they use PLASTIC latches/connectors for load bearing and frequently used parts that DO NOT LAST. I have had several Joovy products fail before their time. Everything's else is fine but one plastic part, usually the one that holds it all together snaps under pressure. The most upsetting was a very expensive TooFold double stroller (discontinued) that I had only a year and used infrequently. The frame was aluminum but the rods were connected with plastic pieces. The one that bore all the stress, snapped. Then my Spoon Walker. Same thing. The plastic latch that holds the walker erect, snapped. For this highchair, the latch that holds the swivelling food tray... SNAPPED. Starting to see a pattern?

Joovy design is 5 stars. Durability is 1 star because they use inferior materials for the most important parts.

Call Joovy, and they don't sell these parts. They company is also constantly coming out with new models and discontinuing the old so you usually cannot get replacement even if under warranty or replacement parts because most likely the version of what you have is no longer available. But they will give you a 20% off coupon to buy more of their stuff.

So, if you only plan to use your baby stuff for 6 months to a year before sending it to the landfill, buy Joovy.

My OXO chair is a tank. Three kids later it's still just as great. And ready to be handed down to my pregnant friend. My Nook, only lasted one baby, is no longer safe to use. Like the double stroller, the walker, and some other Joovy stuff I have, it's going to the landfill.

I'm going around to update all my previous glowing reviews for all the JOOVY product that have broken on me.

JOOVY should rethink they're business practices.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am really loving our new JOOVY Nook high chair. We have been using a [[ASIN:B00FU9UHXG OXO Tot Seedling High Chair, Mocha]] for the past three years which we also like. Here is how the two stack up.

Pros (+):
+ No Assembly - The Nook is ready to be use out of the box. Unless you've used it before, you might still need to go over the instructions to figure out how to unfold it and attach the food tray. You may have to adjust the 5 point safety harness to fit your child, but other than that, you're done.

+ Light - Much lighter than our OXO. I can lift with one arm

+ Folds, Portable and Easy to Store- The Nook folds up really compact and can be taken with you wherever you go or simply stored away. The OXO cannot and is a bit of a space hog. Easy to fold I can almost do it one handed

+ Pivoting and adjustable food tray - I've not seen anything like this. I love the pivoting tray. With the OXO, I have to completely remove it to get my kid out. And I don't always have space to put it on my dining table or on the counter. With the Nook, the tray can stay attached. The Nook tray is also adjustable and you can push it in or pull it out from your child for a more customized fit. My OXO doesn't have this either. The tray just locks into one place. One size fits all

+ Padded Leatherette seat - Very nice and wipe-able (I got the turquoise and love the color too). It covers the entire seat and the back so I expect it will last as long as the chair does. The cover on the Nook does not seem to have the design problem problem that the pad on the OXO chair had. I threw out the seat cover on the OXO about 1 year into use because it was attached to the chair using plastic pegs which snapped after two washes and my toddler pulling on them constantly. The OXO seat is a molded bucket and comfortable so having a pad is not imperative.

+ Very nice and easy to use 5-point harness. Way better than the OXO one which I ended up cutting off. But I think I will be using the Nook one.

Cons (-):

-No Adjustable Seat Height - The Nook seat cannot be adjusted for height. The OXO does. I liked this feature when I got the OXO but after 3 years of using it, I have to say I never used this feature. Not even once. But putting it out there in case it is important to you. The OXO at the highest setting is about the same height as the Nook.

- No Seat Recline - The Nook seat does not recline. The OXO does. Same as above. I liked this feature and thought it would be helpful to tilt the chair back if I ever wanted to bottle feed my baby in a highchair. Never used this feature once.

- Cannot Roll Chair with Child Inside - The OXO has wheels on all four legs. The chair can be wheeled from room to room with child inside. All four of the wheels lock for safety as well. In contrast, the Nook does not have wheels on all four legs. It has something like wheels (rollers) on the back two leg/corners. You must tilt the chair back to engage the rollers. By how far back you have to tilt the chair, I am going that is was probably not designed to be used with a child strapped inside and really more of a convenience thing for you to easily move the chair from room to room. Why is it helpful to be able to move the chair with child inside? Well, for one I don't have to take my kid out if we need to move. And moving a high chair with a 35 lbs. toddler can be heavy. I've gotten so used to this feature on the OXO that I use the chair for more than just meal times. Sometimes I have my child sitting in her high chair playing with toys when I am doing things around the house or getting ready for work in the morning and I need her to stay in one place. I can just drag the chair (with child inside) to where I am in the house. So I loved this convenient feature on the OXO. But I guess if you do not have wood or hard floors in your home, this point is irrelevant.

We love both chairs. And I think the best thing about the Nook is that it can be folded and put away or taken to grandma's house. This space saving convenience is much appreciated especially when I already have another chair that cannot be put away. Check out my pictures of the Nook and side by side with my old OXO.

2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to Clean - Not Good for Baby Led Weaning
By californiamom123 on August 5, 2017
I am mystified as to how some reviews consider this chair easy to clean. It is only easy to clean if by easy to clean you mean capable of being 75% cleaned if you spend 15 minutes scrubbing with a toothbrush and a toothpick to get in all the nooks and crannies. Food gets stuck underneath the tray, in the nooks in between the leatherette and the plastic, in the holes where you can adjust the tray, in the cracks in the on the sides and food was ground into the straps and the fabric on the edge of the leatherette within one meal. Our baby also slouches and gangster leans like some of the other reviews mention. I would not recommend this chair at all if you are doing baby led weaning or intend to give your baby even any mildly messy finger foods. Apologies for the gross-ish pictures of the dirty chair but I wanted to give some examples of how hard some parts are to clean. I am going to try to return this chair and likely will get the Ikea chair instead.

The only positives are that the swing open tray is nice, the top of the tray is easy to clean, it looks nice, it was easy to set up, and is relatively lightweight.
