Blog postI went to see 10 Cloverfield Lane yesterday, unsure of what to expect but hopeful. I wasn't a hater of the original Cloverfield like some: I thought it was a decent monster movie that was interesting albeit hard to watch because of the shaky-cam style. With that said I knew going in that 10 Cloverfield Lane wasn't the same kind of movie as the original based on everything I had read and from the trailer.
I had heard that this new movie was a sequel but not really a sequel. Co6 years ago Read more -
Blog postIn my world there are too many stories and not enough hours in the day to write them. Those stories are bouncing around in my head, but that isn't the difficult part. Getting them written down is the part I have trouble with. Fortunately, I have several projects in the works that are at varied stages of completion. Here is a breakdown.

Blog postWebster's Dictionary defines the term coming-of-age this way: "the act or instance of reaching maturity: often used attributively." In my mind, a coming-of-age novel often features kids who face an obstacle bigger than themselves and are forced to grow and change in order to succeed/overcome adversity/stay alive. Since I read a lot of speculative fiction the obstacle the children face is often of the evil, supernatural variety. Incidentally, this is one of my fa6 years ago Read more

Blog postI have been a huge fan of Wayward Pines since the show first aired. It has all of the things I enjoy-suspense, mystery, a little dash of horror, and elements of sci-fi. M. Night Shyamalan is involved which is a definite plus for me as well (yes, I am still a fan although his last couple of movies have missed the mark for me...really looking forward to The Visit after seeing the trailer though). But I digress. Back to Wayward Pines. The show based on Blake Crouch's t7 years ago Read more

How about one of the stories from my new collection, The Misunderstood and Other Misfit Horrors?
This story has been published in numerous magazines and anthologies over the years. It also forms the basis for a novel that I'm writing now that will incidentally be Book 2 of The Halo Group Series (Book 1 is The Tears of Nero)

Blog postRay Bradbury is one of my heroes. I was saddened when he passed away a few years back, but thankfully, he left behind an enormous body of work that I can read and re-read whenever the urge strikes. As tribute to the man whose work ignited a spark in me to create, I’ve been going back and rediscovering some of my favorite Bradbury stories. Recently, I read "The Veldt" from his excellent collection, "The Illustrated Man."

CASPer Alamo (The Revelations Cycle Book 9)
Jan 30, 2018
$4.99
**Two new stories in one volume!**
CASPers—Combat Assault Systems, Personal—are the lords of the future battlefield. The massive mechs were created to give humanity an edge against the rest of the mercenary forces in the Galactic Union.
Just like today’s tanks, though, massive amounts of armor and weaponry just make the CASPers “hard to kill,” not “invulnerable.” There are things in the galaxy even stronger than the CASPer, and when Humans run up against them, it’s up to the Human inside to figure out a way to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.
“CASPer Alamo” includes two new stories by Eric S. Brown and Jason Brannon, loosely recreating the Battles of the Alamo and Isandlwana on a galactic scale. When all seems lost, it’s up to the mech operator to save the day!

Praise for Jason Brannon's writing:
"From his style, you'd think Jason Brannon was the dark double of Ray Bradbury. He cares more about character and realism than most writers I've read and his plots flow like well-orchestrated music. Indeed, Brannon's writing has a classical feel, reminiscent of the best traditional work in the genre, even when he's going for gut-wrenching terror and torture in-extremis. It takes talent to pull off what Brannon does and he does it oh so well. He's definitely a writer to watch with both eyes wide open." -- Michael Arnzen, International Horror Guild Award winning author of Grave Markings (Dell Abyss)
"Jason Brannon has long been mentioned in the same breath as Ray Bradbury. It is stories like these that have earned him such praise. Charming, scary and at turns downright horrifying, Five Days on the Banks of the Acheron will have you jumping at shadows. No one spins a horror story like Brannon." -- Kealan-Patrick Burke, editor of Brimstone Turnpike and Taverns of the Dead (Cemetery Dance)
“Biblical prophecies come to life at your local hardware store? What's not to like? WINDS OF CHANGE is a wild ride and then some -- Jason Brannon's characters live and breathe in every story, and his horrors crawl up your spine like an icy finger in the dead of night. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough!”--James Newman, author of Midnight Rain (Leisure Books)
