About Jay Faulkner
Jay Faulkner is a disabled writer from Northern Ireland where he lives with his wife, Carole, and their two boys, Mackenzie and Nathaniel. He says that while he is a writer, gamer, martial artist, para-archer, sketcher, and dreamer he’s most importantly just a husband and father.
He writes speculative fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and dark fiction. He also writes for games/ttrpg/rpg, comics, and scripts.
His work has been published widely, both online and in print, and has been nominated for the Penguin Ireland Short Story Competition, the Pushcart Prize, and Sundress Publication’s Best of the Net.
Jay founded, and edits, ‘With Painted Words’ – www.withpaintedwords.com – a creative writing site with inspiration from monthly image prompts, and ‘The WiFiles’ – www.thewifiles.com – an online speculative fiction magazine, published weekly.
He founded and runs Four Parts Press – www.fourpartspress.com – an independent small press which publishes print and e-book charity books and anthologies, single author collections, multi-author collections, online magazines and much more.
He was also a regular co-host on Ireland’s premiers alternative culture radio show Following The Nerd –www.followingthenerd.com
When not writing, Jay is cyber security specialist which he has been doing for far too many years.
Jay is a 5th Degree Black Sash Instructor with Imperial Dragon Kung Fu and while he has dabbled in a few other styles, including judo, shotokan karate, tai jitsu and tae kwon do and enjoyed some aspects of each one, he always returned to kung fu, which is where his spiritual home and way of life is.
He is a school governor for a local integrated school, integrated education being something he feels strongly about, and is the former Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Arts and Disability Forum of Ireland.
Jay lives with – but refuses to suffer from – a rare genetic neuromuscular disability called congenital myasthenia which causes muscle weakness and restricted lung function, as well as diastematomyelia (split spinal cord) of the L2/ L3 vertebra with spina bifida occulta; he was hoping for some better mutations, maybe something that would allow him to join the X-Men but who knows, there’s still time …
He sometimes even finds time to sleep.

- When a Victorian actor’s career comes to a sudden end due to a flare-up of gout during an opening-night performance at the Delphi Theatre, he is left with only one chance to exact revenge on the inflexible house manager.
- Stalked by shadows, a woman prowls the darkened halls of her longtime home.
- Her body found mutilated down the tin mines and pursued by her step sister, she scratches her hooks against the wall as her classmates disappear.
- Some curses are eternal and unbreakable.
- Inertia—a property of matter in which something moves at a set speed and direction until made to change by another force.
- After his dark soul took to the soil, evil plagued the roots of the family tree.
- Houses aren’t the only places that can be haunted...
In honor of National Grandparents Day, 32 writers came together to create stories around the theme of Family Memories -- stories of deeply buried family secrets, stories of murder and revenge, stories of mischievous (and murderous) grandparents and grandchildren -- all in 450 words or less.
As the final anthology in The Family Murders Trilogy, this anthology quickly became something much more -- a reminder that living isn't just about being alive and that family bond runs deeper than blood...life is about creating Family Memories.
This anthology is dedicated to fellow writer and friend, Craig Spector and his wife, Tess. May they continue to make Family Memories of their own for many years to come.

The term 'fatherly instincts' isn't easily defined as a specific set of characteristics but generally include protector, problem-solver, nurturer and other characteristics. Every father is different and so are his natural instincts. But when those instincts kick in, nothing can stop them, not even death.
In honor of Father's Day, 25 writers and artists came together to create stories around the theme of Fatherly Instincts – stories of fathers protecting their children, stories of a father's revenge, stories of men going above and beyond for children not their own and stories of men exhibiting other fatherly instincts in unexpected ways – all in 350 words or less.

From “utopian” societies masking an underlying controlled state, to stories of people fighting back against repression, in hopes of a better world, the flaws that create a dystopian atmosphere are brought to light. Thought-provoking and entertaining, Perfect Flaw will be a welcome addition to any reader’s collection of dystopian literature.
In this collection of short stories, poetry, and non-fiction, you will find our contributors’ ideas of the “trip of a lifetime.” Perhaps you’ll find your own ideas in these pages, or perhaps we’ll spark the desire for you to go out and make your own memories!

The Nun & Dragon is a local like no other – share in the wild and wonderful tellings of a gifted panoply of authors, tales replete with wonder, a liberal coating of mysticism, the odd splash of darkness and a sprinkling of grim humour.
Rainstorm Press presents ten warped stories of murderous, deranged brides and grooms and the families that have been affected by the curse of marital bliss.
Turbulent emotions go awry as jealousy and betrayal burst through these pages like a gunshot to the chest.
Tension and tragedy will tantalize, leaving you wondering if your partner really meant it when he said, I DO…
