Give it a shot, I was pleasantly surprised

Admittedly, I had tried to watch this years ago because Megan Fox lol. Didn't make it far. Just watched it now, in 2022 and was pleasantly surprised. Knowing that Brie Larson and Emma Stone both could've been cast as Needy, I'm glad Amanda Seyfried got the role, because she really made this movie great in my opinion. Also, as much as I love Blake Lively, I'm also glad Megan ended up with the role of Jennifer, I think she was great for it. If you liked the sort of teenage horror movies that I grew up with (think Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer etc) this is a must watch, but has much better writing than the 90's flicks. Diablo Cody is a gem!

So while browsing movies on Amazon for the last 5 years, I see Jennifer's Body listed. It's listed as a comedy, a drama, a horror flick, recently added (multiple times), a movie I might like and others. I got the feeling someone really wanted me to see Jennifer's Body.
It was pretty good, I didn't realize how old it was and that the cast was basically nobodies at the time. Chris Pratt is in it for 5 seconds and says something. Tom Robbins isn't in it so you don't have to worry about anyone getting cornholed.

One of the weirdest movies I've ever seen!

Well, young people may not take it seriously: a typical "horror movie. But the creation of something like this--begins with someone's fantasies. And what grotesque, horrific fantasies. These fantasies ORIGINATE IN SOMEONE'S MIND. This is not fun and games.

It is someone's IDEAS externalized into reality. The human mind externalized. And so much trouble and expense to make such a movie. Why? Why was it needed.

Yet, it was well made, and it captured my interest--to see these horrific fantasies expressed on the screen. If you think this is just "entertainment," you are wrong. The younger generation must be really screwed up. What a horrible world they occupy...in their minds.

And to think I avoided this all these years... smh

Tbh, it was the title that turned me off. I'm a huge fan of Hole, and I thought, in error, that the title was a ripoff of their song of the same name. Holey moley (haha) this movie is fantastic. If anything, it's an homage to that song, albeit in a horror film way. As a woman, I get bored with the standard horror tropes when it comes to the female roles. Not this one! Super fresh - even with a little age on it... maybe because with the age on it ;) And right on with the closing song! Violet yes

First, this needs to be said: Amanda Seyfried is a thousand times more beautiful than Megan Fox. Alright, Fox was one of the hottest women in the world back when this movie was released in 2009. But still she was no match for Seyfried. And in the years since 2009, that comparison has only become increasingly true.

With that said, Jennifer's Body is a brilliant movie. I won't unpack the reasons why, as they've been discussed in depth elsewhere. But suffice it to say I've seen this movie at least a dozen times, and it's not just because Amanda Seyfried is the most beautiful woman in the world, although let's face it, she truly is. But it's also because the movie is a delicately balanced work of art, getting all the details right.

This is a decent movie. For a horror movie, it focuses on the relationship between Jennifer and Needy rather than suspense, gore, and jump scares. There is a lot of psychological interaction going on between the characters. There are different moral themes as well. A best friend with an underlying need to compete with you. Karma. The loneliness of fighting the good fight when nobody understands you. The superficiality of society; high school in this case. The lengths to which you will go to stand by someone who has lost it. Selling you soul. Etc., etc. It had a dry, but witty, sense of humor. Well done.
