About the Author

Sally Lloyd-Jones is an award-winning New York Times bestselling writer of over 30 books for children. Essentially a reprint of the Storybook Bible, that costs more but contains less

I'm not thrilled with this. At the price point, I expected it to be a touch heavier (its SO SHORT) and have new content that's not already word for word what's already in the actual Jesus Storybook Bible. So, I literally just purchased the same book, with a few sound buttons. They just reprinted the same bible layed out a bit differently and charged a bunch more for it. I expected the daily advent part to actually be things ABOUT advent, about the birth of Jesus. About the Christmas story. Instead, theyre just pieces from the storybook bible that we already own. I could have chosen to read one story a day from that if I wanted... but thats not really an advent story, which is what I figured this would be.

Even the few sound buttons only say a line or two, they arent reading a whole page. I just don't get the point of this?

This just does not meet my expectations at all, and I'm still trying to decide whether Ill be returning it.

I preordered this book because we love Jesus Storybook Bible. But like another review, I was disappointed that it was the same content repackaged. I was also bummed with the quality. For $24, I didn't think I'd get something that felt so cheap and the recordings are just a bit of the words on the page. I can read aloud to my kids. There was one or two songs also, but I wish I would have spent my money on something else!

I was very disappointed in this book. I was so excited to receive it. I had even pre-ordered it. But it highly disappointed.

This is not a stand-alone book. We were so confused for the first few days we used it. Then I realized that it just highlighted a verse in the stories in the Jesus Storybook Bible. It doesn’t explain them though, so by itself, it is confusing. Basically, it just tells you which story to read each day in The Jesus Storybook Bible. It’s not necessary at all. It doesn’t even really add anything extra to each day. It’s definitely SUPPLEMENTARY to the Jesus Storybook Bible.

The only upside is that it truly is a pretty book and has buttons that the kids liked pushing.

Our grandson is almost 4. Through December and in to January he has enjoyed this book. There are a series of buttons that he can push, one per page, that read a portion of the story, play some Christmas music, etc. There are great short stories from the Bible for each day of Advent telling how God has intervened throughout history on behalf of mankind. Even though Christmas is over, he still wants to read from this book.

Nice content but no songs at all. The buttons are a complete rip-off. Just some guy with an English accent saying a few things. NO SONGS. How could people promoting a book about Jesus lie? in addition, although I believe Mary was a teenager, in one of the panels she looks like she would have been Jesus' great-grandmother. In others, she just looks pretty ugly. Why?

Every day in Dec we read a page and they received a small gift. There are so many ways you can use this book. I used it with my grandchildren ages 5,6,8 and 10.

We LOVE the Jesus Storybook Bible in our household. We purchased this book believing that Jones had written some new Advent stories. When the book arrived we were disappointed to discover that there is no new content here - it’s just a collection of stories from the Jesus Storybook Bible which focus on Advent.

The stories themselves are excellent, and the artwork is beautiful. The book has a calendar recommending which story to read on which day of Advent. There are also some songs that the book plays. This is all great! I would give this book 5 stars if we didn’t already own the Jesus Storybook Bible. However we returned this book to Amazon given that we already own the stories in the Jesus Storybook Bible, and we didn’t think that the calendar & songs were worth the extra money.
