About the authors
I've been a professional writer my whole adult life, and an obsessed reader since long before. I've also done time as a cowboy, semi-pro actor, computer support tech, and Albuquerque's most popular all-night progressive rock DJ.
I've published almost 100 novels and numerous short stories, including the Prometheus Award-winning THE CYBERNETIC SAMURAI. I'm a founding member of the long-running Wild Cards shared-world project, with a story in the newest anthology, FORT FREAK. At the moment I also write novels for the Deathlands series.
I just sold an epic fantasy trilogy called The Ballad of Karyl's Last Ride to Tor. Look for the first volume, THE DINOSAUR LORDS, July 28th, 2015.
I live on Jupiter with two cats, TJ and Squeak, and a burly dog named Emma who's subservient to them. I serve as Masquerade MC for Life for the excellent St, Louis science fiction convention Archon, as well as, apparently, for our fine local con, Bubonicon. I love reading, birding, games, recumbent cycling, firearms, hanging with friends, and walking the aforementioned Emma Dog in Albuquerque's scenic North Valley.
Thanks for reading!

A 39-year-old wife and mother of three children, Crystal Watanabe is the author of the bento blog Adventures in Bentomaking. Born and raised in the small town of Hilo, Hawaii, Crystal now lives with her family in Honolulu, Hawaii, where she runs Pikko's House, offering editorial services for fiction authors.
Known online as "Pikko" from the online MMORPG Final Fantasy XI, Crystal has been making bento since 2007. Her first cookbook, written with Japanese obento maker Makiko Ogawa, was published by Quirk Books in June 2010.
Samuel Peralta's work has hit the USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestsellers lists, and been shortlisted for Best American Science Fiction & Fantasy. His award-winning poetry has been spotlighted by the BBC and Best American Poetry. His 'Future Chronicles' anthologies were all #1 bestsellers on Amazon, as was the recently released collection of his own work, 'Memory's Children'.
Physicist, entrepreneur, storyteller - he's designed nuclear robotic tools, built solar plants, and founded companies in optoelectronics, mobile software, and artificial intelligence. He's a producer of independent film, including Golden Globe nominee 'The Fencer' and Emmy Award winner 'Real Artists'. And he cooks a mean risotto.
Stant Litore is the author of the nonfiction titles Lives of Unstoppable Hope, Lives of Unforgetting, Write Characters Your Readers Won’t Forget, Write Worlds Your Readers Won’t Forget, and the fiction titles Ansible, The Zombie Bible, Nyota’s Tyrannosaur, and Dante’s Heart. Best known for his weird fiction, alternate history, and science fiction, he holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Denver (as Daniel Fusch). His fiction has been acclaimed by NPR, has served as the topic for scholarly work in Relegere and Weird Fiction Review, and he has been hailed as “SF’s premier poet of loneliness.” He is fascinated by ancient languages, history, and religious studies. He does not currently own a starship or a time machine but would rather like to. He lives in Colorado with his three children and hides from visitors in the basement library beneath a heap of toy dinosaurs, tattered novels, comic books, incomprehensibly scribbled drafts, and antique tomes. He is working on his next novel, or several.
Philip Harris was born in England but now lives in Canada where he works for a large video game developer. Not content with creating imaginary worlds for a living, he spends his spare time indulging his love of writing. His published books include The Girl in the City Trilogy and an homage to the old pulp science fiction serials - Glitch Mitchell and the Unseen Planet.
His short fiction has appeared in numerous anthologies and magazines including The Jurassic Chronicles, Bones, Uncommon Minds, The Anthology of European SF, and Peeping Tom.
He has also worked as security for Darth Vader.

Ed Gosney grew up in the small river town of Martins Ferry, Ohio, near Wheeling, West Virginia. He claims it was a magical place that helped mold his imagination, as he spent countless hours roaming the hills, playing in a cave, and hanging out at the Ohio River with his childhood friends.
Ed is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in English Education, and served in the Army, becoming a Journalist and the editor of the Army post newspaper. After being honorably discharged, he entered the corporate world to write business proposals, working for several different banks and at times managing proposal teams.

Anthony J. Melchiorri grew up in a central Illinois town called Normal. Since then he has done his best to venture beyond the normal. He has eaten tarantulas in Cambodia, rode horses with gauchos in the Andes Mountains, explored abandoned KGB prisons in Estonia, and meditated in ancient temples with Buddhist monks in Japan and Thailand.
Many of Anthony’s books are inspired by a mixture of his travels and his background as a research scientist. While he earned a BA in English at the University of Iowa, he also completed a BSE in Biomedical Engineering. His career led him to the University of Maryland. There he graduated with a PhD in Bioengineering before running a research laboratory that specializes in 3D printing artificial organs and tissues. He has developed materials to 3D print blood vessels and cartilage, invented devices to extract bone samples from patients, and created cellular therapies to help heal wounds.
Anthony currently calls Houston, Texas home with his wife and an untamable, growing collection of books.

In 2015, I formed a team of authors, and we collaborated to create a shared-world, one where our stories could coexist and intersect in a single epic science fiction saga. We established Kōsa Press, LLC to produce the series, hired an editorial team, and commissioned famed Polish sci-fi and fantasy painter, Piotr Foksowicz, to paint the cover. Interspecies Volume 1 is the first shared-world anthology of a planned total of four in the series.
The Science Fiction and Fantasy Association of New Zealand nominated my co-author Woelf Dietrich's story "Babylon's Song," which appears in Interspecies, for the 2017 Sir Julius Vogel Award, Best Novella, one of New Zealand's most prestigious honors for speculative fiction. This year we published a prequel book to this series titled Armistice, and we're currently hard at work on Interspecies Volume 2.
Prior to this sci-fi project, my literary short fiction has appeared in various journals, including the Berkeley Fiction Review, the Porter Gulch Review, and NANO Fiction. In January 2017, I was humbled to have my short story "Victor Mula's Earth Dream" published in the popular anthology series, The Future Chronicles. I also offer my services as a developmental fiction editor and writing coach and have been helping authors and new writers realize their highest writing potential for over fifteen years.

One of the stories, Szcar's Trial, features raptors or raptor-like creatures who, despite being animals with an extremely limited, almost nonexistent language, think very clearly in a very human way. These creatures are visited by an apparent alien construct which operates much like the mysterious black monolith in 2001: A Space odyssey and with just as little explanation.
Some of the stories feature humans who feel a strong sexual attraction to nonhumans. Over the past several years, I have noticed the increasing popularity of similar stories. Some of these seem to verge on bestiality.
One of my favorite stories in the collection is A Spear for Allosaur which has very faint hints of Tolkien's Farmer Giles of Ham without the humor. This story explores the true nature of bravery.
I think that about half of the stories are pretty good adventure and suspense tales featuring mad scientists, adventurers, time or dimension travel, psionic powers, etc. There are not enough of those for me to recommend spending much on this volume. However, it is currently free via Kindle Unlimited and, I think, worth downloading. At the beginning of the book there is a helpful summary of each story which is a big help in guiding the reader in selecting stories to read.

My favourites were:
Szcar’s Trial (Harry Manners) as it is a tale told from the POV of a dinosaur about her life in the pack.
Glitch Mitchell and the Island of Terror (Philip Harris) as it was fun and reminiscent of Jurassic park.
Personally, I was disappointed that there weren't more true dinosaur stories, a few seemed a bit tenuous, so it didn't quite reach 4 stars.
