Justice for Amber (Police and Fire: Operation Alpha) Kindle Edition
Amber won’t go into hiding just because some jerk wants her dead. However, she is willing to accept protection from super hot FBI agent, Cody Whittaker. The program she is working on will change the game against terrorists and word must be out on the streets because people are gunning for her.
Cody Whittaker moved to the San Antonio FBI field office to fight terrorism and organized crime. The last thing he expected to find was a red-haired siren who checked off all the boxes for the perfect woman. Now he just has to keep her alive.
Danger follows Amber, and Cody is fighting his desires, trying to be respectful while navigating the waters of a new FBI field office. Can he save her in time, or will the killer get to her first?

They are attracted to each other but no they have to wait until the case is over. Now to find who is after her.
-Amber's character is entirely too unlikeable without having background info as to why she has such a horrendous personality. In addition to her problems with being a human, there is just a big ol' gap about her...what is her history, what makes her so special, why so smart, what qualifies her for the super duper top secret project she is working on (well other than her answer of "I'm good"...seriously, that us the only info you get about it).
-I am not a super fan of insta-lust books, but thus one is par for the course when it comes to that kind of relationship.
-The part of the ending dealing with Amber & Cody's budding "relationship" completely sucked. So much build up in that area for a spank off on her belly? Say what?!?! I don't need to have an XXX scene, but seriously what was given was little more than a heavy petting session between teens.
-The ending regarding the actual storyline: INCOMPLETE. Again, so much build up (I happened to like how that was happening) for the "big scene" and then there was like no follow through...it just dangles there with nothing but unanswered questions surrounding it.
I will try one more book from this author, as this was my first, in order to give her a fair shot.
