However, if you're here for the Drowned Earth story, which occupies 90 percent of this volume, do yourself a favor and just buy the collected Justice League/Aquaman: Drowned Earth volume, instead. If you're a completeist, than by all means buy both. However, you've been warned: if you own both volumes you aren't getting a lot of unique material in either.

Well, that’s my first gripe over.
I won’t spoil this comic book but boy is there a lot of rainbow colours in this.
Lots and lots of colour.
The art is so mis-matched by varying artists and so many colours I lost track of what the hell was going on.
I love Scott Snyder as a writer and I’m aware he likes novel length speech bubbles, but I just felt myself drifting away when Alien Sea Gods were blabbing on. I hate losing concentration when I’m reading, but boy was this a slow burning read.
Sadly this is an essential start to the future with a long story line of future graphic novels and omnibuses coming out, so this isn’t a good jumping on point.
The paper quality is not as good as could be. I feel DC are going for the old school retro feel of comics.
Silver age, Bronze Age comics that have aged. I just hate the feel, I like the feel of classic thick and glossy pages.
In the end of the book you get the usual sketches, variant covers etc which are always a nice bonus.
Worth getting for continuation but I hope the unicorn poop colours relax and they stick to one type of art in the future.
I won’t re-visit this title alone like I have others unless doing large read through.
Recommended for continuing the series only.
