This book does not teach tuning a guitar, maintenance, etc.. For that I would suggest also picking up Hal Leonard Learn Guitar, which is like 9 dollars (teaches you basics fast), and also Guitar For Dummies used for like 4 dollars which will teach you the main basics, amps, pedals, maintenance, and some other techniques as well.
With these 3 books and due diligence to learning, you'll be playing some serious music in no time. I'm talking immediately. Hope that helps those in interest.
Layout is easy to follow in 7 modules that gradually increase the challenge as you move thru the book.

Justin works hard and unselfishly at sharing his passion for guitar teaching and continually revamps his Beginner's Course, so this book is a companion guide. If you already have his Beginner's Songbook 's Volumes 1 and 2, there are not many new songs, so I would buy a second hand copy.
I like the large scale format , the dimensions are much larger than the Beginner's Songbook.
My dislike is that Justin only prints the chord progression for the first verse, bridge or chorus, leaving the pupil to fill in/ guess or learn where the chords fall in subsequent verses. Surely there is enough space to repeat the chord lyric for the entire song?
