2.0 out of 5 starsFive stars for the quality of the animation, 1 star for the voices, 2 stars overall.
It's hard for me as a long-time SpongeBob fan to separate Spongebob from the Krusty Krab restaurant. Granted he's more than a fry-cook, but to see all of these established characters now portrayed as a goofy little "kids" or young adults (yet with the same voices) is really strange. Newsflash creators... we have the technology now that can alter voices to sound more "kiddish" -- wonder why you opted out of doing that? Anyway, as I said in the title, the animation is adorable, and high-quality (especially close up, he really looks like a sponge!) but, the storyline is lame. Maybe they are just going for appealing to the next generation of toddlers with this one? I can’t imagine long-time fans won’t give it a try though, and I doubt they will (honestly) enjoy it. PS Speaking of Spongebob in general, I’m not sure why this franchise got so dumb—the first few seasons had some brilliant writing, but eventually it was replaced with “dumbness” and the “gross-out” factor to get a laugh. Seems lazy to me. Just sayin’

5.0 out of 5 starsPerfect cartoon
This is such an adorable addition to the old SpongeBob. We binge watched it and are eagerly waiting for more. My favorite part is Patrick's belly. It is so fun to see these little sea creatures as kids.

2.0 out of 5 starsKamp Koral
It is OK, for children; but as an adult fan of the original SpongeBob Squarepants TV show; not a very big fan of this because, he was already kidlike, now why does he have to be a kid, with characters that were first met there for the first time, now he is meeting them again for the first time? Does not make a lot of sense to me.

5.0 out of 5 starsHaving some good ol wholesome fun.
I read the reviews midway thru, I love Spongebob, always have and always will. It is something my youngest grandson and I do together. We love SB. I have purchased one movie at 65.00 just this last year but it had so. Many other things involved. It could of cost 1000 and I would of bought it. I watch it even when he isn't here. I buy him all kinds of things involving SB. Socks, books, games, movies of course t shirts swim trunks. You name it he has it. I believe they may have a SB Monopoly game have to ck it out for his birthday coming up. Anyways for y'all that complain about the show, look into your own childhood pull it out and have fun. This. Short movie is just reflecting on his earlier days. Enjoy. I'm alone and it makes me happy and laugh. But then again Let go and Let yourself have fun. Rewatch it again pls. I don't know how much time we all have here but make a negative into a positive.
Enjoy

5.0 out of 5 starsFunny for kids
My 6 year old loved the backstory on Gary, and thought it was fun how each character was introduced or new. He wishes it would be funnier, but still laughed along and wishes there were more episodes.
