one of the better British comedies
This one was great. Didn't have to look up British slang words. It was very well written and made the characters seem like "normal" people. Also Brenda Blethyn was the exact opposite of her "Vera" character. It showed the versatility of her acting skills. Koji was a hoot. I have lived in tourist areas like Seagate only in the US. It is typical town politics with the town politicians. British seasides can be like East Coast US seasides.

Light Fun Serious topic
Great fun, yet deals with a serious issue so many people are facing-Immigration, assylum seeking in particular. I've met brilliant people from all over the world forced to work low paying, menial jobs when they are qualified doctors nurses and professors in the countries they were forced to leave through no fault of their own. I'm very happy this show is bringing to light some of the challenges that immigrants face. The acting is wonderful and I'm very sad that I've binge watched all six episodes and can not wait for more. I really hope it's going to be extended for more seasons.

Missing an episode but still great!
Episode 4, "The Storm," is missing. Much disappointment! BUT, man, this show is delightful. It's fun to see Brenda Blethyn in a comedic role.

The very last episode almost left me with a few tears, except then something funny happened. This show tackles a serious issue with gentle comedy, great characters, and engaging dialogue.

It's a must see in my opinion!

Big 'Old' Fan!
I've appreciated Brenda Blethyn's acting in the many movies I've seen her in, especially Saving Grace and thought I'd give this a try while awaiting the new season of Vera. I found it funny in a throwback sort of way, but it made me smile and laugh out loud at times and isn't that why we watch sitcoms?

Modern Comedy With a Vintage Feel
Wonderful show with an outstanding cast. We love watching Brenda Blethyn in Vera and she's a joy to watch in this. Was extremely happy to read that the show has been renewed for a second series. The season could have had 20 episodes and we'd still want more. Love it.

Delightful
I really enjoyed watching this. I love comedies... it did deliver; and I like the cast.
Watched all episodes so far... can't wait for more. Surpasses all the comedies out this season.

Dearth of laughs during Covid...needed this.
Ok, it’s a bit silly and a bit overacted, like so many sitcoms, but it’s a great cast, they’re clearly having fun, and some of the dialogue is hilarious.
I have a sense that as this ensemble works together over time they will be even better, but they are all seasoned actors and marvelous.

Update: Episode 2 was what made me write the above review; however, episode 3 would have gotten 2.5 stars.
Just too thin on the ground for me...or too formulaic?
You be the judge.

Light and Funny
This is a winner. I look forward to more seasons. We need lighter entertainment during these tough times . This comedy is funny and yet the characters are quite human.
