Lovely, bilingual book - fantastic for our young language students

I received this book specifically to write a review. That said, I try to be honest and open in all my reviews.(Please see the enclosed pictures.)This is from a series of books put out by Bilingual Brighter Keepsake Stories. This was my first exposure to the series, and I like it.As you can see from the pictures, each page has both the English and Spanish versions. This is not a word-for-word translation. It is a meaning and usage to meaning and usage translation. So, things vary a bit from language to language. Bueno! One of the issues you sometimes run into with bilingual books is that they try to do a word for word translation, and often the phrase is at best awkward or at worst means something entirely differently in the translation.The story is an interesting one. It combines aspects of American Indian and Mexican fairy-tales of the "trickster" bunny and then concludes with the bunny jumping up to the moon, where you can see its shadow to this day. The mythical question that the story answers is "why do coyotes howl at the moon?" Answer: because that rascally, rabbit jumped up there to escape from the coyote that the bunny had tricked many times. (By the by, the Japanese have a traditional story that talks about the bunny jumping up to the moon too. I first ran across that about 35 years ago. I had not heard a similar American version until reading this book.)All in all, the book is nicely illustrated. It is colorful with a bit of a "roadrunner cartoon" feel to it. There are some continuity issues from panel to panel (that my target four year old pointed out to me), but I like the pics.This is a great way to start a Spanish or an English young student start down the path to being bilingual.
