About Kelly Thompson
Kelly's ambitions are eclipsed only by her desire to exist entirely in pajamas. Fortunately pajamas and writers go hand in hand (most of the time).
Kelly has a fancy degree in Sequential Art from The Savannah College of Art & Design and has published two novels - THE GIRL WHO WOULD BE KING (2012) and STORYKILLER (2014) as well as the graphic novel HEART IN A BOX from Dark Horse Comics (2015). She's currently writing CAPTAIN MARVEL, BLACK WIDOW, and IT'S JEFF! for Marvel Comics. Other credits include: Amazing Spider-Man, Deadpool, Uncanny X-Men, West Coast Avengers, Jessica Jones, Rogue & Gambit, Mr & Mrs X, Hawkeye, Phasma, and A-Force for Marvel; Ghostbusters, Jem & the Holograms, and The Misfits for IDW; Nancy Drew for Dynamite; Sabrina The Teenage Witch for Archie, and the creator-owned Mega Princess (2017) for Boom.
Please buy all her stuff so that she can buy (and wear) more pajamas.

Blog postSo the fact that I both twice typed this as 2014 Year In Review and that I already finished this post only for Firefox to crash and me to lose it all is telling, right?
Anyway, I have to be grateful, despite 2015 being a shit year in so very many ways for the world at large and for many of us personally and collectively there is NO DOUBT that this was a huge breakthrough year for me professionally after many years of working hard…finally some things are starting to pay off.

Blog postGah. Massive failure.
I mean, I met my most important goals, which is key when you’re doing work for hire (in part just because you know, you need a PAYCHECK) but the lack of words on he Novel is really upsetting.
I did get sick twice which made it really hard to work at my usual rate – the second one being a bout of vertigo…which have you guys ever had this before? Kind of terrifying and basically impossible to work. So, considering that plus three+ days lost to Thanksgiving7 years ago Read more -
Blog postYou guys. Jessica Jones is really good.
You may or may not know this about me but I have trouble with A LOT of superhero adaptations (especially TV)…this makes me feel very lonely…and so when something that works for me as well as Jessica Jones does (so far) I can’t help but feel happy, but also…relieved?
Anyway, we’re 3 episodes in and I’m REALLY pleased. It’s a distraction from NaNo for sure, but it’s also kinda inspiring, which is nicely refreshing.
Okay day today.7 years ago Read more -
Blog postDespite the distraction of Jessica Jones debuting (I had to wait to watch it with someone, which helped!) I did pretty well. Thanks in part to hustling for a deadline (which also means I got to cross something else off). Woo!

Blog postMy numbers aren’t great considering they’re for 3 days not one (5k over 3 days is way too slow), but they did find me finishing at least one significant project, closing in on finishing another, AND I may have fixed my sleeping schedule (maybe?) so that’s something. I did go to bed at a fairly reasonable 2am (ish) and then popped awake at 5 (ish) so I’m probably gonna need a nap at some point today but I’m currently wide awake and working, so that’s way more than half the battle to be honest.7 years ago Read more

Blog postYikes. Little blip there. We missed…um, 6 days of updates. Bad, bad Kelly. I have been working but I’ve had a few frustrating days. But honestly, as much as I’d love to believe that I’m a writer that’s a machine – a writer that can just WORK IT – because I pride myself on accountability and I believe that writing is much more about “hard work” than it is about “being inspired” but the truth is – at least for me – some times you need to take a step back. You have to give your brain a rest, or7 years ago Read more

Jessica has just faced her greatest fears — her most dangerous enemy — and won! Surely everything is smooth sailing from here? Nope! Instead she finds a corpse in her office — the body of a woman who came to Jessica for help years ago with a case Jessica failed to solve. And now she's being framed for the woman's murder! As Jessica reopens her investigation in hopes of bringing Dia Sloane's killer to justice, she finds herself caught in the web of a serial killer intent on murdering women with powers. Can Jessica figure out how all the pieces connect before the killer claims their next victim? The Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange, is not being helpful — shocker. But how is monster hunter extraordinaire Elsa Bloodstone tied up in this whole mess?
The Black Widow wraps her web around the Golden Gate! Natasha Romanoff has just been through the most emotional adventure of her long life, and the experience has left her looking to do things differently. Now allies new and old will come to her aid as the Widow returns to San Francisco! With a new suit, a new base of operations and a new perspective, Natasha sets her sights on a mysterious emerging threat in the city by the bay - a villain known only as Apogee. But Natasha might not be as ahead of the game as she thought, and not everyone in her orbit is exactly what they seem! San Francisco desperately needs the Black Widow - it just doesn't quite know it yet. Guest-starring the White Widow and Anya Corazon - but who is Lucy?
Vacation - all she never wanted! Carol Danvers and Jim Rhodes have rekindled their relationship (and their travel plans!) just in time to get a distress call from Carol's half sister - Lauri-Ell, the Kree Accuser - that sends the couple on a bit of a detour. And for a trip to outer space, they'll need to pack much more than just their swimsuits! An old darkness has re-emerged - one that almost brought the Avengers to their knees not so long ago. A twisted Captain Marvel is once again terrorizing the galaxy! And this time it's not Carol Danvers…we're almost sure. But where is Vox Supreme? Prepare for a thrilling fight to save the legacy of Captain Marvel - featuring the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Carol's fellow Marvels!
Something is very wrong with Natasha: She’s…happy?! Kelly Thompson. Black Widow. ’Nuff said! The best-selling, Eisner Award–nominated writer of CAPTAIN MARVEL joins rising-star artist Elena Casagrande to change everything for Natasha Romanoff! The Widow has been a spy almost as long as she’s been alive. And she’s never stopped running, whether she was working for the good guys or the bad. But retirement definitely agrees with the world’s deadliest woman as she revels in the perfect life she never dreamed she could have. But scratch the surface of that perfect life and you’ll find something very wrong lurking beneath it — and a woman like Nat just can’t help but scratch. Beyond San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge lies a mystery only the Marvel Universe’s greatest spy can solve! Prepare for a can’t-miss thrill ride!
