Soldering the battery bracket back on the circuit board was obviously a must. But I really believe that the button pads were part of the problem, so buying new fobs for $21 (With shipping) was not a waste of money, even though I am throwing away the brand new circuit boards. For $21, I got 2 new batteries and 2 new fob cases with new button pads!
Not the way I saw this going but very happy with the result anyway!

I took a look at the reviews for my new fobs and the guy who just changed the shell and his fobs worked interested me. So I tried it. Can you believe it!! Both bobs work great with no lag. It is so cool. Try it. Your electronics may be fine. It might just be the fob contacts are shot. New fob shells are great.. Couldnt be happier. $300 for two fobs or $26.....I am so glad it was only $26
Solution was simple, I opened the old remote control and removed the internal part of the remote and placed it into the new one. I was betting that buttons just gone wrong. And I was right, the new remote came to live.
Overall, quality of the new remote is just ok - buttons are too soft and downright flimsy. It may not last long, so I will have to do the switch again.
