Epic Wuxia Classic starring the Venoms!

We'll go ahead and start off with the "is it a kung fu movie?", because you know I'm going there if you have read my reviews before.
The Kid with the Golden Arm is NOT a kung fu movie. No one trains to learn their fighting skills while the film is rolling, they have them from the get-go. "No training sequence = not a kung fu movie" in my book.
The Kid with the Golden Arm is Wuxia through and thorough. It's a martial arts fantasy. It's a Chinese D&D adventure without the monsters or dungeons. An outdoor adventure with transporting tons of goal to help those in need.
Secret government agent? check. Wandering Sword Saint? check. Comedy relief? check. Traps? oh, yes. Secret weapons? you betcha.
If you can convince your female counterpart that there is actual a love triangle in the movie you are a hypnotist of ladies.
Come along on a wild ride of adventure!
Don't let something going on seeming silly distract you from the great fight scenes. Incredible acrobatics!
Invincibility and drinking more wine than can physically fit into your body are the stuff of fantasy.
This is a fantasy film.
And, if you want to go there, it's a superhero movie. Secret identities?! Yes! Super powers?! Oh, yes. Superheroes fighting archvillians trying to steal from the poor? That is what this movie is all about.
I watched this back in the day on Black Belt Theater in the 80's. So it is a great classic to me that draws me back to those great old days of kung fu movies. I have never seen this one in the theater, and it is one that I would love to see on the wide screen. An epic! A Classic!
Have you watched it? Why are you still reading this!? Go watch the movie. It won't let you down if you are true fan of the martial arts genre.
