My Kind of Wonderful (Cedar Ridge Book 2) Kindle Edition
|New from||Used from|
"Count on Jill Shalvis for a witty, steamy, unputdownable love story."―Robyn Carr, New York Times bestselling author of Wildest Dreams
"Fresh pick! MY KIND OF WONDERFUL will keep you in stitches because of the Kincaid siblings...But the heart of the story is how a young woman for the first time takes full advantage of her second chance at life. She shows determination and strength with a lot of sass....MY KIND OF WONDERFUL is a great story."
―Fresh Fiction, -
"Top Pick! Known for her sexy, humorous, and fun stories, Jill Shalvis is an author one can always count on to bring it. This story hits all those Shalvis trademarks, but before you sit down to read this one, you should arm yourself with a few accessories, such as wine, dark chocolate, and a big box of tissues, because this one is packing a big walloping emotional punch. ...Sharp wit and light banter highlight the sizzling sexual tension between Bailey and Hudson, but there'sa poignancy lying beneath the surface, giving the story a solid substance beyond the typical romantic conflict."
―Night Owl Reviews on My Kind of Wonderful
"Completely romantic...Shalvis never disappoints, and the bit of humor alongside a hefty helping of sizzling seduction is always an added bonus. 4 1/2 stars!"―Romantic Times Book Reviews on My Kind of Wonderful --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

Finally, this is a matter of personal preference and not in and of itself a cause for only 2 stars: am I the only one who finds the "tingling" in the "lady bits" to be a really distasteful and just too cute description/terminology? Yuck. Would have much more impact if either blunter terms were used or it were left to the reader's imagination.
It's Hudson Kincaid's chance to fall in love and get a shot at fighting for a HEA with Bailey Moore, and luckily, their journey was an entertaining and adorable one.
Both Hudson and Bailey are scarred for different reasons, both are stubborn as hell, and both are perfect for each other in spite of how sometimes they see the world from two distinct POVs. I got various grins and giggles from their interactions.
I also enjoyed seeing Hudson with his family. Every Kincaid is unique in their own way and that's why they're an interesting family.
The trouble I had with this book though, as I had with the first one, I feel there's something missing for me to completely fall in love with this series. Proof of this is that aside from the characters names, I couldn't remember anything of book 1. It even made the first chapters extremely confusing because I didn't know who these people were or what was going on.
It's never happened to me with a Jill Shalvis series. Until now. And it frustrated me because I felt like I never read the book in the first place.
Fortunately, Jill Shalvis does make a recount of the family history when Hudson opens up to Bailey, so you can start the series with book 2 BUT I'm a sucker for remembering previous characters and moments and getting excited when they show up again... which I didn't get in here.
Nevertheless, I will read the upcoming books. I'm curious about the "lost" brother and I did get to like the Kincaids some more this second time around.

5 star read again from one of my favourite authors.
Hudson is the overworked and conscientious brother who has his own trauma in the shape of a missing twin. Bailey is an artist retained by the family's befuddled mother to paint a mural of the family - she is recently recovered from serious illness and has a list of activities that she wishes to experience. Bailey stays at the family's request and her relationship with Hudson grows - until it hits a barrier.
Absolutely nothing you wouldn't expect in this story but it is told with humour and a deft touch. A quick read which will make you smile. I received a free copy of this book from the publishers via NetGalley.
