THE WORLD HAS FALLEN INTO RUIN. MYTH AND LEGEND HAVE PROVEN TRUE. MONSTERS HAVE RETURNED TO ILLIAN.
Orcs, an ancient fiend thought lost to history, have risen from The Under Realm. Their hunger for total dominance has plunged Illian into war, pushing the survivors to Namdhor, the last refuge of man at the top of the world.
For those who stand up to this foe, they do so in darkness. Ash clouds smother the skies, blocking out the sun as the orcs rampage across the land.
Behind it all, manipulating from the shadows, The Black Hand fuels the war on both sides. The Crow, the one who was promised, has seen the future and works in the depths of The Bastion to forge a new weapon, a weapon that can stand against the dark at all costs.
Gideon Thorn is adrift, his order decimated, and his oath to protect the realm meaningless. The Master Dragorn faces his greatest test yet, balancing his duty to the people and his duty to his order.
Inara Galfrey has a choice to make as the realm’s darkest hour approaches. Malliath and Asher cannot be ignored but holding fast to her courage could save the world. It could also spell her end.
Doran Heavybelly finds himself at the throne of his father. There are realms of hell he would rather visit than the halls of his ancestors. Shackled and bound, however, the dwarf has no choice but to face his past…
KINGDOM OF BONES CONTINUES THIS UNMISSABLE EPIC FANTASY SERIES.

About the author

Philip C. Quaintrell is the author of the epic fantasy series, The Echoes Saga, as well as the Terran Cycle sci-fi series. He was born in Cheshire in 1989 and started his career as an emergency nurse.
Having always been a fan of fantasy and sci-fi fiction, Philip started to find himself feeling frustrated as he read books, wanting to delve into the writing himself to tweak characters and storylines. He decided to write his first novel as a hobby to escape from nursing and found himself swept away into the world he'd created. Even now, he talks about how the characters tell him what they're going to do next, rather than the other way around.
With his first book written, and a good few rejected agency submissions under his belt, he decided to throw himself in at the deep end and self-publish. 2 months and £60 worth of sales in, he took his wife out to dinner to celebrate an achievement ticked off his bucket list - blissfully unaware this was just the beginning.
Fast forward 12 months and he was self-publishing book 1 of his fantasy series (The Echoes Saga; written purely as a means to combat his sci-fi writers' block). With no discernible marketing except the 'Amazon algorithm', the book was in the amazon bestsellers list in at least 4 countries within a month. With 7 of 9 books released, the Echoes Saga has now surpassed 300k copies sold worldwide, has an option agreement for a potential TV-series in the pipeline and Amazon now puts Philip's sales figures in the top 1.8% of self-published authors worldwide.
Now an official 'Full-Time Author', Philip lives in Cheshire, England with his wife and toddler son. He still finds time between naps and wiping snot off his clothes to remain a movie aficionado and comic book connoisseur, and is hoping this is still just the beginning.

The spider web of truth an lies puts you on the edge of your set as you journey with each an every character for good or bad they stick together. Who will be there in the end? Will Asher save the day? Will they all work together to end the hell an the future The Crow has thrust on them? Will Alijah come back to those he loves?
This fantasy series is the best I have read so far this year. Philip Quaintrell is a fantasy author in the making, an I for one can't wait to see how far he goes after this series. BRAVO SIR. outstanding work.

And now back to Philip's epic series "The Echoes Saga". Here is a story that has been thought about in a truly beautiful way. It's about the story and its telling, rather than just putting out another book for the faithful to buy. It's characters are all flawed in one way or another and the "baddies" are more than one dimensional. I think for someone like me, I want to believe that if life was different from the modern world we live in today, this would be that world ... and I hope that I would find my place in it. Not particularly as any "hero" but as someone who found his place amongst other peoples of similar but varying origins.
I won't suggest you read this book, because if you're reading this review then it's likely you have already read books 1 to 4 and you already want to get to book 9 and see how it all pans out. What I would say is if you have stumbled across this review without reading any of the series, then give book 1 a go. It doesn't matter if you don't generally like the genre, if you like a good read with great characters and plenty of plot twists and turns, then this is for you.

The Echoes of Fate and the Echoes of the Lost are exceptions to my reading habits. Not only do I know the names of all of the books but I am up-to-date with the saga and eagerly anticipating the sixth book. I know, I’m a Quaintrell fanboy.
There’s something about Philip C. Quaintrell’s writing that resonates with me. His character and world building seem to tick every box a geeky fantasy reader like me needs. Dragons, Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, ‘Gods’, epic battles, fierce duels… I’m not even scratching the surface.
I’m happy that the fantasy genre has a new young and talented writer that has a penchant for the kind of stories I enjoy the most. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed his books and I look forward to reading his future work - and you will too!
Lastly, Paying £2-3 for these books is akin to robbery.
