I have bought this book 5 times now because I keep giving my copies away. This was the book that introduced me to Keller and I now have read most of what he has written (which is a lot - he is a prolific writer). A lot can be said about Tim Keller. "He is the C.S. Lewis of our time." is a favorite of mine but you need to know about Lewis to understand that quote. Basically Keller is a deep thinker who takes the skeptic seriously. He asks the questions the atheist would ask or goes through the logic that a scientist would have and explains why the natural world and the Bible are reinforced by what we see and know, not disproven. This is still my favorite book of his. It uses the book of Mark as its grounding but its more of a book explaining the very nature of God, the Trinity and who Jesus is and why He offers grace. Whether you are looking to have questions answered or looking to be able to answer questions better or just want to learn more about our amazing savior, buy the book - you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely riveting book. It is not a light read and don't be concerned if it takes a day or two of meditation to really absorb a chapter. This book would make an outstanding small group Bible study. My daughter "loaned" me her book but I just couldn't stop underlining and writing revelations in the margin. So I bought her a new one and two more for dear friends. I've wept, sung praises to Jesus, and word-smithed words all through this book. If you are not sure about Jesus, read this book by a man who really knows Him personally. You might find that you are very glad you have become much better acquainted. I definitely am.

Tim Keller's expertise is that he is always able to take a passage of Scripture and show how it's all about Jesus. The Bible is not about us, but always finds its purpose in every story in the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This work is not an exhaustive study of the Gospel of Mark, rather it highlights the two primary themes of Mark: Chapters 1-8 - Christ the King - highlighting His teachings, miracles, and authority as God ; and Chapters 9-16 - Christ the Servant - highlighting His sufferings that culminate in His death on the cross.

Keller throughout this book manages to weave in and out how Jesus is the answer to all of the major questions, needs, and realities of life. This book is an excellent reminder for the Christian that all of life only makes sense with Jesus at the center of it. For the non-believer Keller makes a cogent case for the necessity of Christ in his or her life. King's Cross would be an excellent gift to give to college students, co-workers, friends, acquaintances, and family members who are unfamiliar with the main story lines of the Bible.

The gospel in the life of Jesus is presented clearly, articulately, and compellingly in this concise presentation of Mark's Gospel. The Gospel of Mark gives more than just information about Jesus. It is the account of the person that every human being longs for. We all desperately need Jesus and Keller brilliantly shows us why. One cannot read this book without desiring to have a deeper connection with the Triune God through a personal and intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

The writing is based around the book of Mark and it so beautifully puts together the purpose of Jesus's coming and ultimate death on the cross. This book has left me with big things to think about with respect to forgiveness, serving others, and of course, the price that was paid by Christ for me and what that means to my life. I highly recommend this book no matter where you are in your journey with Christ.

OK. I've had a lot of issues in my life at that time and was looking for help in various Christian literature; however, I have found little help if any at all. This kind of gospel was never preached by the Early Church Fathers (apart from Augustine - but he came much later). I prefer to read them. I've moved on from these kind of teachings as I didn't find them helpful or accurate. I liked to some degree Keller books but I now moved on. Pastor Keller is very articulate, clever and with high self-esteem. These are all the most important qualities of pastors in the Evangelical church nowadays. And probably that's why he's followed and promoted by so many in the Evangelical world.

He takes the familiar passages, exposes the history/traditions of that time and explains why christs coming to the world and the words he used were so shocking to that time. Excellent reading and one which I will go back to again and again. I would recommend this for anyone who has a faith in God, but who has some difficulty in understanding the greater works of bible history, theology and belief. This is easily read and understood.
