Start of the Alex Corss thrillers as he chases a serial kidnapper

Kiss The Girls was a psychological crime drama based upon a book of the same name written by James Patterson using one of his favorite characters Alex Cross. It featured Morgan Freeman as Detective Cross and Ashley Judd as Dr. Kate McTiernan. Cross is brought in to investigate a series of mysterious kidnappings that included his niece. Later Dr. McTiernan is kidnapped as well but escapes. Together Cross and McTiernan hunt down the suspect who calls himself Casanova.

The introduction to the movie lays out who Cross and McTiernan are dealing with. Casanova is a psychopath who observes women, kidnaps them, then psychologically tortures them, rapes and kills some of them. Most importantly he’s a collector of women. The viewer gets a close up look at his work when McTiernan is kidnapped and held in a dungeon type setting with many other women.

The movie is a great mix of drama, police procedure, and action. It lays out how bad the villain is. Cross is the expert who sifts through the evidence and sees things others don’t. Then there’s the chase after Casanova. It's all very well done and might be the best adaptation of any of the Alex Cross books.

It's been along time since I've seen this. I remember watching it in the movie theater. Very good crime thriller. I always wondered why she didn't run when she had a chance from the kitchen. What state was he in because it took him a long time to get to her house on almost deserted streets. Why wasn't a cop called. Always thought that was the best use for a carton of milk. You'd never see it in a got milk ad...lol.
Loved Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd, and Cary Elwes. Very well done movie would recommend to any body.

James Patterson "ALex Cross"

This is a James Patterson "Alex Cross" novel of which I can't get enough of and only Morgan Freeman can play the part and he plays it perfectly. I was surprised how close the movie followed the book they usually don't. Acting was spot on and Naomi Judd was perfect including all her own stunts.

I have seen this movie many times ... the casting was pretty good. The script from the 1990's and the location fit the story very well. Morgan Freeman began acting in the 1960's and there were very few roles for "black actor's " due to prejudice, segregation and bias. Studio's and networks only gave choice roles to specific stars like Sidney Poitier and Diahann Carroll who were popular back then. He payed his dues like many stars from his generation had to ...he did theater, television commercials, bit parts on made for television movies. He was also a regular on "The Electric Company" a tv show for children. I feel his best role was the semi-biography of high school principle "Joe Clark' that he played in 1989 that was a major movie titled "Lean On Me" ... that is were he did his best work. Though many point out "The Shawshank Redemption" was were he opened the doors of a successful career . Ashley Judd the spitting image of her mother Noami Judd who's retired from the singing duo the "Judds" with big sister Wynonna . Cary Elwes is a wonderful actor himself...he's great at using an "American accent" even though many may not be aware that he is British.. the first time I saw him was in " The Princess Bride" ,"Twister" and "The CRUSH". He is very attractive too boot. Actor Tony Goldwyn who plays the doctor in Los Angeles,California is part of the "Golden era of Old Hollywood" .. his paternal Grand father was the famous studio owner/producer Samuel Goldwyn . ( If you're interested in all the detail's ) . Please check out his bio online... The late Bill Nunn was one of my favorite actors as well..he played the other negro law officer in Los Angeles,California . Sadly he died in 2016 from Leukemia .... did you also catch a young Jeremy Piven ..before his "Entourage " fame ..yes he looks much better with his hair implants.. Guess in the 1990's he was just a starving actor waiting on his turn...? The ending is what gets me time ..after time... Enjoy this film and maybe it will become a favorite of your's...?

ONE OF THE TWO GREAT BOOKS WITH ALEX CROSS

MY FEELING IS THIS IS PATTERSON’S BEST BOOK OF ALL. IN THIS, TO AVOID A NARRATIVE REVIEW, THERE ARE EIGHT WOMEN KIDNAPPED
COAST TO COAST. BUT, IN THIS NOVEL AND MOVIE, WE ARE ABLE TO SEE THE INNER WORKINGS OF DR. CROSS’S MIND, WHICH IS MUCH MORE SIGNIFICANT. THE KIDNAPPER WORKS THE EAST COAST BUT SOME BODIES APPEAR ON THE WEST COAST. THE ONLY SINGLE VICTIM THAT HAS EVER ESCAPED WORKS ALONG SIDE ALEX CROSS TO FIND THE CAPTURED WOMEN. BUT, IN CROSS’S MIND HE THINKS MOTIVE, MEANS AND LOGISTICS. I REVIEWED........ALONG CAME A SPIDER.......AND TRIED TO MAKE THE ANALOGY THAT CROSS THINKS AS A GRAND CHESS MASTER. HE STAYS AHEAD SEVERAL MOVES AT ONCE AND HAS SEVERAL GAMES GOING IN HIS MIND. HE HAS A VERY FORMIDABLE FOE IN THIS BOOK, AND CROSS TRIES TO COGNITIVELY TAKE IN EVERY CONCEIVABLE ANGLE. WITHOUT DOING ANY SPOILERS, YOU WILL LOVE THE MOMENT THAT THE LIGHT BULB GOES ON, IN CROSS’S MIND, AND THE UNRAVELING BEGINS, I.E. THE DENOUEMENT. THIS IS A GREAT THRILLER. ENJOY.

Twisted, relevant, thrilling.

Even though it's an older film, it was done well and is contemporary enough with speed, character development, and suspense. There are many excellent actors and only a little bit of bad acting/directing.

OK but hard to pay attention to after the first half
Verified purchase
Decent mix of things here, some good but definitely more on the bad side. The concept is pretty interesting and I really liked the first half of the movie but things kind of devolved after that. Instead of intelligent detective work we get lucky breaks where incompetence should have derailed the story a dozen times. It's pretty insane that the lead character isn't stripped of his badge and gun halfway through the movie never mind how he isn't in handcuffs. He's basically a Mary Sue who bumbles his way through the story doing nothing but ignore every law possible while seemingly just waiting for the plot to hand him a break. Which it does every single time he needs it.

I've seen this before and it's one of those movies that stands the test of time.....its not outdated or 'old' looking. Good performances by Freeman, Judd, Elwes, Gold and Sanders. Initially, I could not envision Freeman in the lead role. I had read the book by James Patterson and his description of Alex Cross did not 'fit' Freeman. I read where Denzel Washington was slated to play the character which made sense. As stated, Morgan does a good job.
