Raised in a small American village after her mother passes away, Sarah Jones is sent a cryptic letter about the true identity of her father, an English nobleman. She travels to London in search of the man while she passes herself off as a family member of the aristocracy. No one is aware — not even her closest friends — that she spends her nights in a boardinghouse, making money by treating people who come to her for her healing abilities. But one night, a nobleman appears on her doorstep, nearly dead, and her life will never be the same again.
Lord David Redmond, second son of the Earl of Brentford, loves his life of pleasure and in pursuit of fun. He has never been able to understand the appeal of settling down with one woman, much to his parents’ dismay. Until one night, he suffers the consequences of a liaison that should have never occurred, and he finds himself out-dueled in a brawl outside a gaming hell.
Left for dead in the streets, David wakes up to find himself in the hands of a beautiful woman who treats his injuries. But more than that, she sees inside his soul. Soon they each discover a connection they never asked for and are not sure they can live with. When she finally shares her story, he vows to repay her by finding her father.
What if the truth of who they are is more than either of them can take?

About the author

Ellie has always loved reading, writing, and history. For many years she has written short stories, non-fiction, and can hardly believe that she is now living out her dream writing historical romance.
In every era there is the chance for romance, and Ellie enjoys exploring many different time periods, cultures, and geographic locations. No matter when or where, love can always prevail. She has a particular soft spot for the bad boys of history, and can't help but write of strong, feisty heroines.
Ellie and her husband love nothing more than spending time at home with their two sons and Husky cross. Ellie can typically be found at the lake in the summer, pushing the stroller all year round, and, of course, with her computer in her lap or a book in hand.
Hearing from readers always makes her day!

Sarah Jones grew up in America with her mother, learning the healing trade from her. She is a strong, independent woman capable of taking care of herself, but enjoys helping others to the extent of her abilities. A couple years after her mother's unexpected death, she receives a mysterious letter from England. The letter says her father still lives and includes a ticket for passage to England along with some funds. Longing to meet family, she decides to go to England to search for her father with nothing further to go on other than he is a peer. Along the way she meets and befriends Lady Alexander and three other like-minded Ladies (Phoebe, Julia and Elizabeth). Sarah uses her healing skills as a way of living in England as well. Three years into her search and about ready to give up, she encounters an unconscious man on her doorstep one night. She nurses a badly beaten David Redmond back to health. He feels very possessive of her and returns nightly to keep her safe. What does David discover about the way he was living? When he hears her story, he pledges to help her in her search for her father, but with not much to go on it stalls. Until he happens upon a ring of hers. Why had she not told him of it? Who recognizes the family crest upon the ring? Meanwhile, what do David's parents do to him? What happens that speeds Sarah's decision to return to America? What else does she learn from Lady Alexander? How does David react when he finds her rooms empty? A great book about a strong, independent woman who chooses to help others and a man who thought he knew what he wanted, only to discover that he was on the wrong path.
