“The scion of King Andrew will be reborn through an heir of the Argentines. They will try to kill him. You are all that stands in the way.”
The loyal Ransom has to juggle his personal life with Claire as well as help defend the kingdom of Ceredigion from not just one usurper to the throne, but multiple while the King fights in a far off war in the East Kingdoms.
We are left with an unexpected revelation and a saucy cliffhanger at the end of the book as well.
Like the others in this series, we get several teasers from other Kingfountain World and connecting more dots to what led to the events in the Kingfountain series. There’s also a very popular hooded figure that makes an appearance in the book.
This is just a brilliant continuation of a story that is my favorite series from Jeff Wheeler so far. I’m just glad Ransom doesn’t have to much further to go. Can’t wait for the next book!
I received this book as a digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) from the publisher through NetGalley. My opinions are my own.
It is a real testament to the craft of storytelling that he chooses to continue honing his skills rather than simply relying on the winning formula he has most certainly perfected over the course of his career thus far. Bravo, sir! And to you, I say, "More, please!"

Book 3 doesn't disappoint. Treachery abounds but so does loyalty, love and honour. I also love all Mr Wheeler's books because he is not loathe to speak of a higher power. I think this brings another dimension to his stories. In his acknowledgements in this book, he refers to an email from a lady who found comfort in words taken from a previous series while coping with forest fires. I have saved many notes I have highlighted from his books too, as sometimes they just resonate so much.
As for this story, I can't say much without spoiling it but the action, the tension, the misinformation, the machinations and of course our ensuing worry for the characters we have come to care about are all there and I cannot see how a reader could be disappointed.
Roll on 04/01/22 when Fate's Ransom (The First Argentines Book 4) will be released. I hope there won't be too much anguish but I'm ready to read it all the same. I believe this will be the final book in the series but, as with all Jeff Wheeler's series, they are very rereadable, so I know they will continue to entertain me.
I read this with Kindle Unlimited and I am grateful that this author, and many other excellent authors, allow us to do so.
