Decent acting, disappointing story
Verified purchase
You can tell this is totally written by a man. Dude cheats on girlfriend, hangs around at the club--watching her dance and criticizes her for acting like she enjoys it in order to get money for her dad's cancer treatment, gets upset at her for dancing, doesn't believe her and instead believes people he barely met, GOES through her purse and things nearly every day, pushes her, gets upset with her for not wanting to have sex, tells her that she used to be a good girl and now she's a whore, and he gets apologized to? She wants to take him back? This is a love story? Girl, get out. There is nothing healthy going on here. Still, the acting was good, so, unfortunately, it was a movie you watched to the end. And then thought, why did I do that?

Not Bad For A B-Movie

This is one of those movies you watch to pass the time. Lap Dance also reinforced my views on what happens to people when they get caught up in the world of fast money. Nothing good ever comes of it. Monica and Kevin were a perfectly nice couple until she became a stripper. I sympathized with her choice only because she wanted her father's last days to be a comfortable as possible , since he was dying from cancer. As to be expected, infidelity came about on both sides and Monica got wrapped up in all the money she was making. I don't want to spoil it for future viewers, but I will say this: Lap Dance was a decent movie, but not Oscar material!

Guy cheats on girl, twice, and leaves girl because he thought she cheated after her did and girl takes him back months later because she loves him. What the age old story.
The acting was good for everyone but Monica ( the lead) she had some good moments but mostly it was just awkward spoken dialogue.
Its an ok watch but its sad that the lead character was perfectly ok with being treated so low by men.
But other than that it was really good to see Diamond in the club again, I guess she quit being the News.

An average movie. The plot is fairly stale about strip dancing out of economic necessity. Some of the interactions aren't entirely consistent. The girl's relation with her Aunt and Father aren't well enough explored to explain how she acts. Friction with her husband is well enough set up in the plot but steps in the resolution seem missing. You might expect a different experience from the cover.

Enjoyed from beginning to end

Enjoyed from beginning to end. In the past this would go straight to video. Now I can watch this here and many other movies like this and omg love every minute. Sometimes I prefer these from studio predictable movies or oscar stuff which acually can get boring after a while.
This is one of the better ones. Is very realistic and well made. About strippers and rappers and one girls relationship with her boyfriend. Good casting and very good acting.

Its ok if you have time on your hands.

This type of story line has been around for years. While its watchable I wouldnt want to spend money on it either. Should have been made for the lifetime network not theaters not even direct to sale.

Good average movie

Well i gotta say that the movie has a pretty good message for young people, on a immoral growing society where money is more valuable than moral values, the actors and actresses were good, and the script wasn't bad, the only thing I notice is that for such a good story the content was not really enough, it could've been of longer extent, with richer dialogs and more development, it kind of missed a lot of things, the script could've been better but it was not bad

A movie about how "love saves the day" even apparently if you're a simp and a stripper. Watched it for free on a day off and still had to skip whole sections because it was so bad.
