On the good front, character development continues to be top notch with this series. Few comics I've read even try for the level of complexity this series handles with ease. Dr. Mann in particular is given a lot more to do than usual.
On the downside, the reintroduction of an old character leads to a number of weird issues with the timeline, as well as pulling a fake-out on some old plot lines. You'll see what I mean.
Here's hoping the next issue keeps us the good work.
Anyway, the deluxe editions are awesome. Oversized and printed on sturdy thick matte paper. 5 stars.
This volume is packed with more action and more suspense than the previous two combined. I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. As Brian K. Vaughn continues his story, many sub-plots begin to catch up and more develop. Some good things happen, but not as often as the bad things. I won't give any spoilers away, but the odds seem to be against Yorick & friends, and they aren't likely to let up.
Aside from being a wonderful epic adventure that blends sci-fi with realism, Vaughn explores the differences, similarities and mysteries of the sexes and how humanity perceives them. I love this series; it's sophisticated and ridiculously fun. I think all the hype is totally legitimate. Can't wait til October for Volume 4.
If you are into SHTF stories from alternate perspectives, then this is a must read.
If you wanna see an adventure about a boy & his monkey, then this is a must read.
I love the hardcover deluxe format. The paper is also great.

We finally find answers, but not all of them (there are 2 other books to read). It also takes us back on the road so we can encounter more characters - and this is where this series excels.
The main characters go from strength to strength, and you really do feel a connection to them.
