It could have been done better as a documentary

I was interested in this as it was in arizona, could have told more of the back story of the family and given more information. You can read about this escape and the aftermath and it is interesting. This is more of a local movie for those that are from the southwest as the subjects were from here and you will know the towns. It also could have included more info for those not from here as well. It could have been done better as a documentary.

cheep, "made for TV movie"
Verified purchase
It is a cheep script and not so good acting, some sound like they are reading lines. Plot interesting but acting slows it down and seems so boring. Bruce davidson WOW where has he been he got old - he plays the sheriff after them hes the only one that knows how to act and that should tell you all about the movie, you have to wait and yawn hearing the other actors until Bruce is back on scene. I love time period, true stories, but they screwed this one up. some of the acescents are NOT Arizona sound like Kentucky or Tennessee. When the dad says God damn 4x in the same short sentence, you wonder if its adlib or just a very bad script. - I shut it off "made for TV movies" are not worth my time.

INSULTING TO AN INTELLIGENT VIEWER

This could have been a great story if the characters were fully developed by the actors and director. Instead it was a gross attempt at telling a tragic true story using all the obvious tricks and made for network television mediocrity.

Much better than expected!

Had never heard this gripping true story before. Truely menacing performances gripped me to the end. Not what I'd call oscar worthy, but maybe emmy fare. Overthetop violence was jarring, but necessary to grasp the psychopathy. I even thought 'Willard' did a good job as the cop, maybe one of Divison's best roles.

Pretty violent, a true story, an example of bad parenting

My husband and his ElCamino had a small part in this movie and we haven’t been able to see it. So glad we could get it on Amazon. This is a true story and a remake of an old Robert Mitchum film. Turned out much better than we expected.
