1.0 out of 5 stars Poor grammatical example for children
By spaghetti321 on October 1, 2018
We learn reading, writing, rhetoric, oratory, etc through reading and listening. I don’t understand why a children’s book would be purposefully published with grammatical errors. I am by no means an English teacher, but this book is embarrassing to read aloud. Additionally, it is inappropriate to infer that low income equals ignorance and poor education.
I understand the message this book was intending, but a different message was received. Not a book for my child.

3.0 out of 5 stars Distracting Grammatical errors
By G. Turrent on October 3, 2021
There are a few sentence fragments that distracted me as I was reading.. I am not sure why the editor or author left the incomplete sentences. Now the book is very sweet and the illustrations are delightful. It’s a U.K. Book so that’s why “kerb” and perhaps “arcing” were used. I get that the quotes are supposed to have an uneducated grammar, to show they’re underprivileged, but I didn’t get why the sentences were written like that. Anyway, good lesson and cute book but I might get a pen out and add a few contractions to make complete sentences 😂
