About Laura Hargis
I have been riding horses since I was about 2 years old. As a child, I didn't play with dolls, I played with Breyer horses! I still have most of those horses (my collection is rather impressive). I started writing in 1990. My first book, however, was never published - I was too afraid to submit it. In the early 2000's I started writing articles for magazines. It was nice to see my name in those magazines.
Then, in 2008, my first story, A Friesian Christmas, came to me in the middle of the night. It's about a Friesian horse who pulls Santa Sleigh. I shared my story with friends and family every year at Christmas. Then in 2016, I had it illustrated and published, so I could share my story with everyone.
That was the start of the Horsey Holiday Series. The second book, A Shetland Thanksgiving (2017), is all about a Shetland pony who finds his forever girl on Thanksgiving. This story is actually based on a true story! The third book, A Belgian Valentine (2018), is about a carriage horse (a Belgian) in the big city, who decides to play matchmaker for his person.
I am currently working on more of the Horsey Holiday Series, as well as other writing projects.
I live in Colorado with my husband, my horse (a half Clydesdale mare), my two Beagles and just a few chickens. When I'm not writing fiction, I work as an ISO auditor and technical writer for the medical device world.
