My wife loves this movie. I don't!

My wife saw this movie on the Hallmark channel on Dish and went absolutely bonkers, she liked it so much. I bet she has seen it at least a half a dozen times since we got it. I like Spiderman better. I'm 73 and she is 72. Maybe it's the age difference, you think? Anyway, the DVD played well and the sound was good, so my wife says, so I'll have to keep it or loose her. Oh well, marriage is give and take... I have to give and she takes. At least we have 4 TV's so if I don't like what she is playing, I can go to another room and watch the TV there. The 5 STARS is here rating. I've never seen it.

I love a good romance. This is not it. Terrible script for the two leads! I suppose Julianne Moore did her best delivering really bad lines with soft moony eyes. A Yale grad with zero backbone --that's not right! Bronson has a sexy direct stare but is a jerk that somehow the viewer must find endearing. I don't know how to say it, but it's the wrong level of jerkiness to be bad-boy enticing. The script is all cliché. Fight in court, get drunk, go to bed, use that to get under the skin, rinse and repeat. In the beginning, I thought they were going for the Big Easy but not quite delivering. Then maybe Working Girl. This movie doesn't stand up to either of those classics. The supporting roles are great, so enjoy that if you watch.

Michael Sheen is the bright spot...
Verified purchase an otherwise predictable movie. He's at his chaotic best as Thorne Jamison. I saw a review that said he stole almost every scene from Julianne Moore and Pierce Brosnan, and I have to say I agree. This is a pretty standard rom-com, with the two principals going back and forth on whether or not they're in love as they represent opposite parties (Thorne and his equally chaotic fashion designer wife, Serena, played by Parker Posey) in a divorce. Nice scenery. The castle is cool.

Good Omens got me interested in seeing more of Michael Sheen, and although he didn't have that much screen time in this film, I was quite satisfied with what I saw! I recommend this to anyone who needs a little more Michael Sheen in their life. You know who you are...

Attraction is not a formula, it just happens.

Whenever I need a pick-me-up, this movie is in my play list. Take two talented actors, give them a standard woman meets man storyline where like turns to attraction and all the complications & challenges of relationships arises. Will they overcome or not? It's a great movie.

Silly, insipid and lacking in any imagination. I cannot believe Julian Moore will agree to this. And I have no idea why she was this clueless, dumb woman despite playing an accomplished attorney - who does this film cater to - idiotic/insecure men ? I stopped after 30 minutes.

This is my kind of movie. The acting is good, the story is entertaining, it is funny and romantic. It is not an action flick, it does not have gratuitous sex, profanity is limmited. Two opposing lawers--divorce attorneys--face off in court and the bedroom and end up married. I will not elaborate because it would spoil the movie for you if you get it.

There is no way you can know my tastes, so this may not mean anything to you. I have watched this movie three times since I bought it and will probably watch it more times in the next year. It is a keeper!
