Hauntingly Gorgeous

OMG!! What an AMAZING depiction of Les Mis!!! David Oyelowo WAS Javert! He truly understood and conveyed his mind. You cannot help but root for Dominic West's Jean-Valjean; such a brave, complex portrayal. Hats off to Lily Collins as Fantine! Such a difficult role to play, and she did so with maturity, vulnerability, likeability and finesse. Sumptuous sets that boggle the mind. Glorious supporting cast (round of applause for the Thernadier household!!). You will NOT be disappointed with this portrayal. Well-deserving of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations!!

You will get the whole season.
Several people have said they bought the season but got only one episode. You get the episodes after they are shown on TV. The below is information from Amazon about buying a season with episodes that have not aired yet.

When you buy a TV Season Pass, episodes that have already aired on TV are immediately available to watch from Your Video Library.

New episodes are automatically added to Your Video Library as soon as possible after their original network air date (usually the following day). We'll send you an email notification when new episodes are available.

So Miserable, Yet So Good

This show drags you through the miserable history via these incredible characters and their heart-wrenching journeys. Truly Hugo’s book brought to life. Incredible acting.

A great rendition of the classic, social realist, historical novel by Victor Hugo.
Verified purchase
What I like about this movie is summarized by Victor Hugo in his intro to the novel. Said he:
"So long as there shall exist, by reason of law and custom, a social condemnation, which, in the face of civilization, artificially creates hells on earth, and complicates a destiny that is divine with human fatality; so long as the three problems of the age—the degradation of man by poverty, the ruin of women by starvation, and the dwarfing of childhood by physical and spiritual night—are not solved; so long as, in certain regions, social asphyxia shall be possible; in other words, and from a yet more extended point of view, so long as ignorance and misery remain on earth, books like this cannot be useless." And one could add: nor will movies like this be useless.

Great version of Les Miserables
Verified purchase
We're big Les Mis fans, so we enjoyed this dramatic version. It follows the book closely and the acting was wonderful. One of the rare shows that my husband, myself, my 21-year-old daughter and 18-year-old son all enjoyed watching together. My husband didn't have to lament the politics of the program or gripe about the scantily clad women, my daughter and I loved the clothes, setting and storyline and my son enjoyed the action.

Buyer Beware
Verified purchase
Season 1 has 6 episodes. I purchased season 1 thinking it would unlock the additional episodes. It did not. So I wasted $10 on episode 1.

Just stick to the book please!

This series was very frustrating. At times, they followed the book perfectly and at other times just went so far off it was sad. By the way, why can't any films or series make Fantine blonde like she is supposed to be? It is one of her two defining characteristics in the book. They really jacked up Cossette's birth timing too. Made zero sense Great actors though.
