Some things I notice
Verified purchase
1) Chip never has a rife. That could be because he is on native land or that he is a felon. It is interesting info about using a Mosin-Nagant in a CROWD of Caribou and missing. A nicer rifle with a regular scope and you won't miss.

2) The guy that has no machines, and faces mosquitos from hell needs a can of DEET. He has nothing, and that is OK. He likes having no machines. I suggest he get rid of the rifle and use a spear. Then his way of life is fully left. He has kids. Gee

3)The other kid that lives alone seems a little tense. But he gets his work done.

4) I have just bought land in AK in a remote area, but I have flown in a full construction crew, modern materials, a CAT bulldozer, two snowmobiles, satellite dishes, have electricity for heat and water, washing machine, dryer, hot showers, and a full kitchen. 50 cords of wood will come every two months. Clearing some land I invested in a pharmacy, school, two Doctors, full surgical gear, and a concrete runway. The power is fueled by propane and gensets. It will be fun. I don't want a trailer home. But people will make money working and doing things. Hardware store, parts, mechanics, teachers, haircuts, and soon I will get other investors to open a power plant with me and lay fiber optic cable. Then one can live roughly if they want but have a safety net to get things. If they have no money we can barter for other things. The medical clinic will be paid by me and by Medicaid, medicare.
I don't like the sloppy stuff of the property, so we are building a huge heated garage, and putting in heated cement and roofs. The boat will be 40 feet and stored. Full complement for cutting wood, parts, petrol, and fishing. This will be in central AK. Max mosquito coverings and zappers. No kid needs to be sick and a helo can pick them up. This won't make some people happy. But for me to happy, we need all these things. And police and fire. I made a deal with the AK government to put a police station, fyre station, and they will split the cost. Civil Engineers will build bridges and control the water. Machine repair will be there and parts for machines. No need to suffer. A supermarket is being built that I invested in. When it gets tough, they can get food, purified water, and vegetables and fruit most importantly. A laundromat. There won't be a lot of people. But a small village is nice and THEN one can build a hunting cabin for fun. Vaccinations and the police will lower the crime rate which is very high in AK.

Animal lovers do not watch
Verified purchase
Fascinating series... however if you are sensitive to the hunting of animals I do not recommend this show.

I do sense a somewhat reverence and respect for the animals they are hunting , and they do use their catches to feed their families. Doesnt make it any easier to watch.

Good, but becomes repetitive.
Verified purchase
I bought and watched 2 seasons and enjoyed it, but decided it was starting to become repetitive.

I would watch if it were included in a subscription but not worth buying for $20 a season.

Love this series. Portrays what it takes to live alone and survive. Each person lives in the Alaskan tundra for their own personal reason, how they each do this is the subject of this series. Easy to get caught up in this series.

This series is addictive. Fascinating documentary about the subsistence lifestyle in the far north. I couldn't live this life but I keep coming back to watch more.
