I hate the woods, forests, wooded parks or whatever else you want to call “those places”. Nothing ever good happens in the woods, you could be chased by animals, you could be chased by a crazy guy with hatchets, you could be chased by monsters, that are real and monsters that are pure evil, you could be chased, killed and eaten in some forests (big warning signs are posted in forests like that). If you would like to be alive at the end of a visit to one of “those places”, DON’T GO, no need to make excuses, Just say “no” I feel like living, you guys go ahead hope you will have a fabulous time. And I wish your families the best finding all of your parts.

This is an amazing story. You never see some of the twists and turns throughout the book.
The friendship dynamics of the 2 sets of friends are very interesting. The first set of friends from the first round of killings is 2 boys, 1 girl, Brian, Jeff and Jess. The boys see the Hangman in the middle of tying a victim to a tree, the boys get away with some injuries, but Jess is taken, brutalized, raped and then escapes.
The second set of friends are tracking the Hangman in what may be the last round of the killings 20 years after the first set of friends. This again is 2 boys, 1 girl, Edward, Frank and Janie. Janie is taken, brutalized, raped and...........plus in this group you have Chuck, a big bully who used to tease and beat up the first set of friends, Brian, Jeff, and Jess. Same age as these kids were. Now Chuck is clean, sober, and trying to make amends for his past behavior, trying to help the second set of friends, Edward, Frank, and Janie, track down the Hangman and maybe rescue Janie from getting killed.
Both set of friends are using the same wooden fort that the first set of friends built, played in, hid in, tried to figure out who the Hangman was 20 years ago, also Chuck use to beat up the first set of friends in this fort too, now he helps the second set of boys to try and find who the Hangman is and where he is holding and raping Janie. Jess was raped inside the same wooden fort.
I really love FBI Special Agent William Bright. He truly is one of the most interesting characters I have read about for some time. The idea that along with all the other skills an FBI agent is taught and learns from field experience, this character has a second sight, that he has been using to help his local PD since he was 11 years old. Premonitions about the killer, an otherworldly perspective of actually getting into the killers mind, see what he sees, feel what he feels, does what he does, feels the killers thought, hate, disgust, enjoyment and excitement of the chase, capture, torture, and the final act of the kill. He is a great addition to this amazing set of characters thrown into the national spotlight because the town has been plagued by a serial killer who has hunted their town woods for 20 plus year and virtually has left no evidence of himself behind, bordering on the supernatural.
