About the authors
Alice Schertle has written many well-loved books for children, including Little Blue Truck, Little Blue Truck Leads the Way, and All You Need for a Snowman. She lives in Plainfield, Massachusetts.
The first books I remember loving are "Harold and the Purple Crayon" by Crockett Johnson and "Animal Fair" by Alice and Martin Provensen. I also loved "Ferdinand" by Munro Leaf and Robert Lawson and "What Do You Say, Dear?" by Sesyle Joslin and Maurice Sendak. Later on I loved "Homer Price and the Donut Machine", "Alice in Wonderland", "Grimm's Fairy Tales", and one about bread dough that keeps rising and rising, I wish I could remember the name of it.
I've lived in big towns and small towns, in mountains and valleys, beside the ocean and across the ocean, and now I live in Taos, New Mexico in a house with big windows that look out on mountains and sagebrush. My husband, our dog, Harry, and I take a lot of long walks in the desert. We spend the Summer in a tiny cabin on a tiny island in a big lake in northern Minnesota. We've named the island Good Dog Island in honor of all the good dogs we've known.

At the end of this one, Little Blue doesn't end the book with his trademark 'Beep Beep Beep' so that was disappointing. That's my sons favorite part. So when I read this to him I say the beep, beep, beep even though it's not at the end.

The art is phenomenal. The overall message is clear and as a parent, it's admirable that even though the Little Blue Truck gets pushed around a bit in the city, he is still so kind and compassionate, offering his help to the Mayor, just as he offered his help to the mean Dump Truck in the first book. Kindness perseveres and he's acknowledged and celebrated for it.
I think this is a worthy sequel and it can be made a super fun read with your child. I personally like to give the Mayor a Colonel Sanders accent and have my son celebrate with me at the end for the Little Blue Truck saving the day. And the parents complaining there's no "beep beep beep" at the end? Come on. Lol. Y'all are too harsh on this series, lighten up a little. It's a solid kids book. I almost didn't buy it cuz of these low reviews but I'm so glad I did. And you should too, if you're thinking about it. Your kiddo will love it. Especially if you add accents.

Writer just want to make some money by selling some similar styled book. Nothing much for children in this book except how to be a slave to the mayor!!!
