About the authors
Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima started working together in 2001 to imagine and create the entire graphic universe of all the Harry Potter™ movies.
Motivated by a shared artistic vision, in 2009 they founded a graphic design studio, with the objective of creating distinctive and unconventional design and illustration for the entertainment and publishing industries. They named it MinaLima.
As MinaLima Studio, they designed graphic props for films such as Sweeney Todd, The Golden Compass and The Imitation Game; created their Collective Nouns art print collection; and crafted MinaLima Classics, the bestselling series of illustrated books.
Miraphora and Eduardo have continued their involvement in the Wizarding World franchise with numerous design commissions, from theme park design to marketing and publishing. A new chapter of imagining this world came in 2015, designing the graphic props for the Fantastic Beasts™ film series.
In 2016 House of MinaLima opened its doors in London: an immersive gallery and shop showcasing their treasury of graphic works. Since then, the experiential narrative space has also welcomed visitors in Osaka, New York and Paju, globally celebrating the idiosyncrasies of Miraphora and Eduardo's ideas and their passion for storytelling through design.
Hans Christian Andersen (/ˈhɑːnz ˈkrɪstʃən ˈændərsən/; Danish: [hanˀs kʰʁæsd̥jan ˈɑnɐsn̩] ( listen); often referred to in Scandinavia as H. C. Andersen; 2 April 1805 – 4 August 1875) was a Danish author. Although a prolific writer of plays, travelogues, novels, and poems, Andersen is best remembered for his fairy tales. Andersen's popularity is not limited to children; his stories, called eventyr in Danish or "fairy-tales" in English, express themes that transcend age and nationality.
Andersen's fairy tales, which have been translated into more than 125 languages, have become culturally embedded in the West's collective consciousness, readily accessible to children, but presenting lessons of virtue and resilience in the face of adversity for mature readers as well. Some of his most famous fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling", and many more.
His stories have inspired ballets, both animated and live-action films, and plays.

For those zealot Harry Potter fans, you should know who/what MinaLima is… if you don’t — they are a design and illustration studio company based in the UK, who are probably most known for doing the designs for the Harry Potter movies.
They’ve partnered with Scholastic to issue their edition of the Harry Potter series, which are illustrated hardcover editions, with interactive designs. They’ve also partnered with HarperCollins to do a classics series of books; currently there are 8 of them, and this is one of them.
All of the MinaLima books are the same. They are hardcover with no dust jacket, and a "leaflet" in the back that looks like it could have been the back of a dust jacket instead. The “interactive designs" are not actually interactive at all; it's not the same as a pull-tab book or something (at least not in this book). The book is printed on quality paper, but the illustrations are very mediocre compared to other editions for similar prices.
This book is the fairy tales of Hans Christian Anderson, and there are 12 of them in the book. The first one is The Little Mermaid — which is different and a lot darker than the Disney version.
I got my 8 HarperCollins classic MinaLima editions while Amazon was doing their buy-2, get-3 deal… which they’ve ended. A lot of book titles were eligible. I placed two separate orders to take advantage of the deal. I got 6 books, but only had to pay for 4. One of them, Peter Pan, wasn’t available directly from Amazon anymore, so I had to get it from a third-party seller (in the UK, no less!)… but I used my award points from my Prime card, so it only cost me like $12. I didn’t get any discount on The Wizard of Oz book, but at $25, it was still less than the retail price.
The 12 fairy tales in this book are:
The Little Mermaid
The Nightingale
The Ugly Duckling
The Swineherd
The Tinder Box
The Princess and the Pea
The Emperor’s New Clothes
The Red Shoes
Thumbelina
The Steadfast Tin Soldier
The Little Match Girl
The Snow Queen
The 8 HarperCollins Classics, MinaLima Edition series are:
The Little Mermaid and Other Fairy Tales
The Wizard of Oz
Beauty and the Beast
Peter Pan
The Secret Garden
Pinocchio
Alice in Wonderland
The Jungle Book

The whole book is filled with such magically amazing art to go along with the stories and it's entirely throughout. You hardly ever see two pages in a row without something. The interactive elements are fun...I'm not giving this to a child, but they're still whimsical, cute and appreciated. It's stuff like fold out maps, "doors" that you open with mirrors or other images inside.
This also has other stories including the Princess and the Pea, the Snow Queen, The Nightingale and a couple of others.
The pages themselves it's printed on are nice, smooth and thick. I just can't say enough good things about this book (or the series of them) and would recommend to anyone. They also have The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book and...I think that's it. I'm not sure if they are doing more or if Alice completes them...but I hope there are many more still to come. Alice just came out so it's higher, I think about $30, but ANY of these would be worth every penny.

As The Little Mermaid isn’t actually a very long story, this book is padded out with some of Hans Christian Andersen’s other classic fairy tales which all have their own stunning, unique illustrations to go with them. Quite a few stories are crammed in, so there’s a good amount of variety. My favourites (besides The Little Mermaid) were The Princess and the Pea and The Emperor’s New Clothes.
As mentioned, these are the classic versions of the fairy tales written by Hans Christian Andersen, not the Disney versions, so they aren’t all magic and sparkles and they don’t all have a happy ending. The Little Mermaid and The Little Match Girl both end in death, while The Red Shoes and The Tinder Box are surprisingly violent, so I would bear that in mind before giving this book to a small child. There’s also an unpleasant emphasis on pretty things being good and ugly things being bad, as well as some general sexism which shows the age of these stories. Unfortunately, there’s an obvious reason why these stories have undergone multiple adaptations over time.

The interactive elements are sturdy and delicate all at the same time. They are amazing and so imaginaitive.
The illustrations are equally stunning throughout the book. I bought this for myself and daughter as a bedtime story we can both enjoy but I'm keeping it on my bookshelf out of the way to keep the book in good condition. I want to collect them all !
