Editorial Reviews

"Atmospheric, unnerving, and addictive. Little Paranoias is a spooktacular October read from a new and distinct voice in horror fiction." -Tiffany Michelle Brown, author of Spin
"Outstanding work by a massive rising star in the horror field and if Taylor isn't on your 'Must Read' list yet, it's really time to change that." -Steve Stred, author of Wagon Buddy and Ritual, for Kendall Reviews.
"Bite-sized morsels of fiction that feel like a meal, maybe your last meal or one that haunts you, but fiction that'll chill you to your bones no matter the temperature. Highly recommended!" -Erin al-Mehairi, author of Breathe. Breathe.
"Little Paranoias sets itself apart from the typical collection of short fiction, combining poetry with longer-form stories with a lot of, what I came to think of as, vignettes. The bulk of these pieces establish a certain comfort in discomfort as Taylor seems to almost take pleasure in leading us down a certain path, and then viciously pulling the rug out from under our feet. After a while, the reader starts to feel, dare I say, paranoid, but it doesn't get any easier to guess where we'll end up." -Brennan LaFaro

"I really enjoyed the stories in this lovely collection. They range from stories which tug at your heart strings to stories that give you the shivers. If you haven't checked out Taylor's writing before I would suggest you pick this up and give it a read" -Toni, The Misadventures of a Reader

"Throughout these 20 stories and poems, we feel love, and loss, and regret, and desire. Between these pages are living skeletons, true crime podcasts, the end of the world. We're introduced to characters that we think we know, only to have the scripts completely flipped a few paragraphs from the ending, leaving the reader unsteady and unsure." -Cassie Daley, Night Worms
"Taylor has a strong, entertaining narrative voice, and so much versatility in her storytelling. She can break your heart, make you angry, twist all your expectations, make you laugh, care, and cheer. These stories are wonderful, varied, and beautiful. I highly recommend this collection to any horror fan, or just any fan of well-written short fiction." ~Laurel Hightower, author of Whispers in the Dark

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique, disturbing, and a lot of fun to read ...
By amanda rock on January 4, 2020
Taylor is an excellent storyteller. Reading this collection of poetry and short stories was a breath of fresh air. But like demented. Is there a word for that?!

Little Paranoias was my first read for 2020 & I feel like I'm ushering in some new, freaky energy for the new year. I'm into it. Can't wait to see what she writes next ....

- A combination of flash fiction, poetry, and short stories, this collection was unique and disturbing. I loved it!
- Taylor's voice is vibrant and refreshing.
- With just a few pages, she creates realistic characters and tells a satisfying, frightening (or intriguing!) story. After I read the first story, I immediately fell in love with her work.
- Taylor really messed with my emotions in this collection. I went from heart break to sheer delight, and had a lot of fun along the way.
- Here are my favorite stories in this collection:
Weary Bones - a beautiful, heart wrenching story about loss
Hollow - a creepy story about a kid and a doll
Stick Figure Family - a most delightful, funny, and charming story about murder
Hearts are Just "Likes" - a sharp as nails commentary on social media

5.0 out of 5 stars Bite-sized Horror Snacks Satisfy the Appetite
By Red Lagoe on December 30, 2019
I LOVE flash fiction and short stories. This collection of horror by Sonora Taylor was a fun and gripping mix. Some of the bite-sized tales were quick, flavorful snacks that packed a good punch. Others were slightly longer stories meant to be savored. My favorites were WEARY BONES (I love the powerful message of this story), ALWAYS IN MY EAR, STICK FIGURE FAMILY (Ha! Didn’t see that coming), and SALT (gotta love a good horror romance). Okay, there are more that I really enjoyed, but I think those are my top faves. I’ll definitely be reading more of Sonora Taylor’s work.
