A feel-good rhyming story with a positive message about confidence and self-esteem, from the creators of international bestseller, Giraffes Can't Dance.
Little Penguin Pip-Pip would love to join in with all his friends swimming in the sea, but there's just one problem . . . he's scared of water. His sister had a mini penguin too. I read this book to him and then the next night he found her penguin. She gave it to him and now he calls it, "Little Pip Pip" it is so cute.
I actually saw this book at a book fair, read it and wanted it but they were out of it.
LOVE!

Notable to me here, it is the mother penguin whom aids the child to water, while the father penguin comes out with a bit of a dig at the child, never to be seen again in the book. Probably quite a real to life portrayal of parenting in humanity, but I belive penguins are actually quite a bit more progressive in thier gender roles with Mum and Dad penguin sharing many of the what and may be considered among humans as mothering roles. Gosh, this is turning into a bit of a thing. These books are actually quite thought provoking, well done Giles.

As a Dad to a boy this book annoyingly reinforces negative stereotypes. A cute little penguin is scared of water, to which the Dad is very insensitive saying oh what a silly thing to say. Then his Mum needs to tell the Dad to be gentle before consoling the child that it’s ok to have fears etc. The Mum then helps him to swim whilst his insensitive uncaring Dad is nowhere to be seen.
