A woman falls for a very special guy whose super powers of kindness and compassion win her love—in #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts’s Local Hero.
Widowed just a few years into her marriage, Hester Wallace has met the challenge of raising her son Radley as a single mom, earning enough to secure them an apartment in the heart of Manhattan. She’s proven that she has the courage and the strength to save and protect her nine-year-old’s world time and again. But when it comes to her new neighbor Mitch Dempsey, she feels powerless. The creator of Radley’s favorite comic book superhero, Mitch is as charismatic and confident as anyone fighting for truth and justice in a cape and cowl. And he has the uncanny ability to capture Hester’s heart.

It wasn't instant love. It took them both a little while to adjust, creating more realistic love story versus last.
It had adult banter and conversations. Some authors miss the mark and you can't help but wonder "Were thet trying for the dialog of JR High?"
Very few books do I keep on my tablet but this one I will. 1. Because it's Nora Robert's. 2. Because I enjoyed it enough that I just might read it again.
I enjoyed this book. I was rooting for the good guy …. The good guy won!
On her own, she focused on her son, provided for him, and made him her world. She had no use for the male species at all. She would never be dependent on another one again.
Mitch is the neighbor who lives two floors down in the same apartment building. He has seen the gorgeous lady and her son come and go after they moved in two weeks before. When a pizza they ordered accidentally gets delivered to him, he sees it as an opportunity to finally meet her. Hester quickly finds out that discouraging Mitch is nearly impossible. He has a way of getting exactly what he wants. Mitch sees the hurt in her eyes and is determined to break through the wall she has erected because there is definitely something between them in the way of chemistry. As a comic book writer, he and her son, Rad, find immediate camaraderie, but Hester has known men who have tried to use her son to get to her before.
A very heartwarming story about disillusionment, distrust, protectiveness, and a man's determination to get past those barriers and win the heart of the woman he loves.
The rhythym of her stories flow easily and are easy to read and follow. There is a natural flow and ease of reading as well as good characterization.
Local Hero is a sweet romantic story of a young woman, a child, a man and a dog. Loved the characters.
