missed the mark. missed several marks. the tone is all over the place--it starts out as a comedy, then the sappy rom-com music starts up and we realize we're supposed to take these characters seriously. Greta gerwig doesnt help as she isnt' really acting her character, she's doing a parody of a stereotype throughout the film, with exaggerated reaction shots and furrowed brow and goofy blank stares. Also the actor playing the fiance is clearly gay and it almost seems like the character is supposed to be gay, but I think that was unintentional.
best scene-- the prison architect. finally the movie hits the right note, which it should have taken all along--pure off the wall comedy

Excitement turned to disappointment

Was really excited to watch this movie with Greta Gerwig. Was expecting something art-house, but with quality. The plot is a bit off. The motivation of the main character was hard to figure out. I always think it odd that movies see people turning to finish their dissertations when they are disappointed in life. I don't think it works quite that way.

the funny part was the guy with the roller skates

it's a comedy in the sense, that it isn't a drama and it's a light story.lola is about to get married and the groom gets cold feet, but the two see each other throughout the movie. the old christine's brother is in this film and a very good friend of lola's and her fiance'.

Better than the Cinderella fantasy. Glass slippers are dangerous. Few men are princes. Not wise to count on everyone else to do the right thing all the time.

I like it because I can relate to it

I like it because I can relate to it. The confusion, the heartbreak, the fuckery after a major break up causes you to be a mess, but once you master being alone you can master anything.

I like the starring actress, but this was one of the worst movies I have ever watched in my entire life.
