Superb performances by all actors, a modern day film Noir with a powerful, though dark message.

I liked the music; it seemed to support the mood of the film. Though a color film, it echos classic film noir of the nineteen forties and fifties. Admirable direction, competent casting and believable. settings took me back to childhood. Such brutal crimes as these actually factual and depicted reveal inhumanity of the worst kind. The film acts warn viewers to avoid placing themselves in vulnerable situations, but reveals the tragedy of the crimes through the reactions of the actors and props. Key example is the reaction of John Travolta in the scene with thr tricycle box, slowly opening it, reacting in horror, turning away, slowly walking to the road and falling slowly onto his knees.. I disliked nothing about this film. Kudos to all concerned with the creation and production.

Gandolfini, a great actor, does his damnedest to liven up this movie but Travolta sucks the air out of it faster than Gandolfini can replace it. Hayek and Leto are ok, but misdirected. Some of their scenes are tasteless camp and don't really fit the tone. Laura Dern, normally a good actor, has the same problem with the scenes with Travolta. His presence is like a lead weight on every scene. I suppose he could act at some point, but it's not evident in this film. Could have been a lot better.

This movie very loosely follows the story of the Honeymoon Killers. Selma Heyak is great although the real Martha Beck could never dream of being so beautiful. The casting might be questionable but the movie’s good nonetheless. Travolta and Gandolfino as the detectives searching for a strange pair of killers.

Very solid, very dark, well written. My only complain is they fall into that Hollywood trope where male villains get their comeuppance but female villains do not. Hayek's Martha Beck was much more evil than Leto's Ray Martin was, and we never see her suffer for her evil. I don't want to see a villain smirking and smug beginning to end, she deserved far worse. Leto's villain cracks and breaks and you love it because he's pure scum, but Hayek's character was far worse, and the director gave her a pass.

As usual James Gandolfini does a grand job along with John Travolta in solving this true crime story. However, the best actor performance goes to Jared Leto who plays one of the villains along with his crime partner Salma Hayek. Great acting & movie keeps your attention from start to finish!

It could have been called "Three Toupee Crimes" because all three leads...Gandolfini, Travolta and Leto...had bad hairpieces. Fire the makeup/wardrobe people!
Otherwise, good movie/story.
