Chuck Black is the author of nineteen novels including the popular Kingdom Series, The Knights of Arrethtrae series, the Wars of the Realm trilogy, and the Starlore Legacy series. He spent eight years in the Air Force traveling the world as a communications engineer and as an F-16 fighter pilot. Chuck now travels throughout the country speaking to parents and teens about critical issues facing families today. Chuck is also the CEO of FlowCore Systems, a chemical injection and automation company in the oil and gas industry and is also a product design engineer who has invented or co-invented eighteen patented products in the construction and the oil and gas industry now being sold internationally. His passion in life is to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and to love his wife, Andrea, and their ever-increasing family. Chuck and his family live in North Dakota.

This trilogy is superb writing. Black effectively provides a kind of allegory for the children of Israel's deliverance from Egypt, the promise of the Messiah, complete with the backdrop of the world unseen. He uses all of these themes carefully and illustrated through science fiction. It is a true blessing to read well-crafted story telling that strives to faithfully maintain God's Truth from the Bible. Fiction written this way helps believers in Jesus Christ understand Biblical history better. Thank you, brother Black, for this gift.

The story line was good, which is what kept me reading, but a lot of individual scenes read like they were from 50,000 feet on fast forward, like a whole battle which determined the fate of the nation was covered in six sentences. You also never connect with Daeson’s (I think that’s how it’s spelled) emotions. So when he’s feeling grief you’re told he is but you never connect with him in it. Overall this was uncharacteristic of Chuck Black’s writing. The one thing I was happy with was that Rivet was reverted back from a mimic bot to a normal android, although I like his original story as a maintenance bot better than what actually happened, and his simplistic straightforward way of speaking over the more intelligent and complex style he begins to adopt.

This story is filled with action and suspense from cover to cover as it retells the narrative of Joshua and the Children of Israel finally arriving to the Promised Land. Over and again, the reader is reminded of the unfailing love and protection of El Elyon (“God Most High”) and his intricate plan for the redemption of mankind. I recommend the entire Starlore Legacy series whole-heartedly.
