This story has me hooked, and I’m anxiously wanting to read the next book in this mysterious series. The plot line in this book continues with the mystery as to why Penny’s mother left Penny with such obscure clues as Penny tries to piece together her mother’s last days. The romance Penny has with Isaac is still on a slow burn but is very sweet. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. (I received a free copy of this book, am voluntarily leaving a review, and subsequently purchased the book in support of one of my favorite authors.)

Note that this is Book 3 in the series. It builds on the universe and characters in the previous books. They should definitely be read first. There is a lot of fill-in for the episodes in previous books, so it could stand alone, but the full impact of the previous books will give much greater appreciation and enjoyment of this book.
Penny Briggs is still dating Isaac as they are trying to unravel the mysteries of the demon-killing sword, the cryptic poem, her birth mother, and her evil grandmother. Her father unexpectedly visits, bringing news of a deceased half-brother, who died under suspicious circumstances. While shopping, Penny finds a turquoise necklace that gives a vision of her birth mother pawning it, and some other glimpses into her mother’s last days. She learns the full identity of her birth mother. Now the search is on in earnest for the ‘patriarch’s tears’ and ‘ring of iron’ mentioned in the poem. She finds the “tears” and prevents them from being taken by a demon "with extreme prejudice", now the ring awaits. Things go fairly smoothly as crossover characters Michael and Audrey from the Project Demon Hunters series come to help with the investigation - smoothly, that is, until the unexpected cliffhanger ending, to be concluded in “Finding Destiny”.

Huge cliffhanger………..Really enjoyed the continuing romance and mystery with Isaac and Penny.
Penny is still dealing with the fallout of learning she has witchy powers, in addition to searching for her egg donor mother and fending off demon attacks. Isaac is trying to assist her with her issues as well as running his New Age shop business and continuing his recovery from a long ago injury. It is very interesting how both Isaac and Penny deal with his disability and the challenges it presents. The romance is progressing slowly and that is a nice change of pace. Pope also does a wonderful job of presenting New Mexico to readers just as she has done with Arizona in her previous books. Looking forward to the next book, Finding Destiny coming in early 2023. I appreciate being part of the review crew.

In Christine Pope’s Lost and Found, Book 3 of Unexpected Magic, it finds Penny Briggs still searching for what her biological mother left behind for her to discover. Like small pieces of bread scattered all over, Penny follows the leads left for her. But only to have demons try to frighten and grab her findings. Issac Zamora, male witch and constant companion and hopeful lover, encourages Penny to continue her searches even if the demons are relentless. This is a continuation of previous books in this series. Yet I am absolutely impressed because characters from a totally different series are interjected into the storyline. It is amazing how Christine manages this with such ease. I love this book and the series and recommend it highly, however, it is a cliff hanger which can be a bit frustrating since the next book in this series won’t come out till 2023.

I'm not entirely sure how I felt about this book. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it, I'm somewhere in the middle. This book is third book and you need to have previously read the other books to get a good idea of what's going on. Penny and Isaac are still on the hunt to solve the mystery that deals with Penny's mother. This mystery feels like Hansel and Gretel when they leave breadcrumbs to get back home. We're following a breadcrumb trail and it's both enthralling and frustrating. Penny's father makes an appearance which gives us another clue to the seemingly never ending mystery. While there isn't a ton of action in this book, there's still a lot of people, demons really, getting in the way. The ending, I think that's what really killed me. Be prepared for the cliffhanger ending, and it will be a wait for the next book. I did receive an ARC but this doesn't affect my thoughts or opinions.

This is the 3rd book the series and I could hardly put it down! Penny discovers more about her bio mom and finds another magical item. I was so excited that Michael and Audrey, from Demon Hunters, showed up to help! And that ending….
