Mysteries abound on the first season of LOST as the 48 survivors of Oceanic Air Flight 815 find themselves stranded on an unidentified island with little hope of rescue.

Lost is one of my favorite series ever, so this bad review isn’t about the show itself. Rather, it’s a warning to others to NOT buy the “multi format” version of this season unless you speak Japanese. The entire menu system is in Japanese, making it near impossible to even get playing, and then good luck trying to turn off the Japanese subtitles! Fortunately Amazon accepted my return of this item past the 30 day return window, since the product listing is vague and misleading, but don’t make the same mistake I made!

1st off. I thought I was buying a new product. I received a “used” product. 2nd. As you can see by the photo this is not English. Subtitles are present on some sort of Turkish or Asian language. Very misleading— Not happy. I want a refund

This show has an incredible amount of depth and great acting. It can be watched a 100 times and you will keep coming away with more information and new theories as to what is happening.
Quite possible the craziest and most plot twisting TV I've ever seen. This is thoroughly riveting TV. You may as well buy all seasons at the same time because like potato chips, you won't be able to stop at just one.

A stellar first season of a show that rapidly went downhill. Well acted. Well written until it pulled the old bait-and-switch and unexpectedly became a SciFi show. (I like SciFi. I don't like being blindsided.) This show made unexpected deaths the new normal. And it made flashbacks and telling stories out of order part of the culture - a little too much, in my opinion, but it definitely worked in this show.
Lost was a great series, although it wasn’t an original idea. The Lost Islands and The New People are a couple of examples of shows that came decades before Lost. The New People is one of those shows that I’ve wanted to buy on disc for years, but it’s never been available, and it’s not available to watch on Amazon either. I’ve got a list of little known shows that I’d buy if they were available on disc like Danger 5, Galavant, etc. Someday.
After buying the first two seasons of Lost, and liking it, I bought the rest of the series on disc. I laughed at the crazy Jack character and some of his silliness, but overall the series was very entertaining. The ending didn’t live up to the hype. Some reviewers said that “Everybody” was at the church in the last episode. Not true. Mr. Echo and a ton of other characters were not at the church. The church was mostly empty.
When I’m not watching episodic storytelling I’m reading, everything from nonfiction to westerns, but at least half of my time is spent reading sci-fi and fantasy.
Sci-fi and fantasy authors I like include Douglas Adams, Isaac Asimov, Paolo Bacigalupi, Ray Bradbury, Orson Scott Card, Arthur C. Clarke, Earnest Cline, Suzanne Collins, Abe Evergreen, Diana Gabaldon, William R. Forstchen, Joe Haldeman, Robert A. Heinlein, Frank Herbert, Hugh Howey, George Martin, Larry Niven, Andre Norton, George Orwell, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, John Scalzi, John Steakley, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Andy Weir.
When this series first aired on ABC, I missed a few episodes from season 1, but when I got my hands on the DVD, I completely binge watched it. I was obsessed with the mystic about the different story lines, than watching the behind the scenes for more extra tidbit that I could find. If you're into drama with a hint of mystery than watch the it from season one. You may not get all the answers you're looking for, but has cliffhanger episodes.
Good slim DVD set, all the same eggs hidden in all the same places.
Fun show overall, though they backed over sentiments and resolves from episode to episode — doin' the revisionism nightmare tango became more frequent as the series' run progressed.

Ganz einfach. Bei Video on Demant fliegen Serien halt raus. Findet euch bitte damit ab!

Its basically East Enders castaway on a Hawaiian beach, with better looking actors. There's a bloody fight scene pretty much every episode and everyone's even more messed up and reactive than they are in real life. There's also some stupid mistakes and oversights; There's a very Indian looking guy who's supposed to be an Iraqi whose accent is thick as a brick but whose English is nevertheless perfect. In the episode I've just watched the beautiful blonde guy is described as naked coming out of the sea but in an atrocious piece of editing you can clearly see his jeans. That said, most of the acting's excellent and the plot's quite intriguing. It's also got a bit of spiritual depth. I just wish film and TV producers would quit assuming that everyone wants to see lots of melodrama and men running around acting like apes.

This box set covers the first series of the 2004-2010 TV series in which 48 passengers find themselves stranded on a mysterious Island after surviving a plane crash. Starting off well, the pilot episode is chaotic, noisy and disjointed as the passengers try to figure out the basics. The entire series basically consists of us getting to ‘know’ about 14 characters –although only half a dozen are central. There are a few bizarre elements thrown into the mix, but it’s the character development which holds the attention here as their backgrounds are teased out with each episode revealing new ‘facts’. The 25 episodes are held on 7 discs which are in individual slimline cases within a stiff card outer carton. The first six hold 4 episodes each and the seventh holds the last episode and extras. The discs open to a menu offering English or most Baltic/Scandinavian languages, then goes to main menu offering play all, set-up and some extras. Rated as a 12/15 these discs do contain some graphic injuries, sexual references and drug usage. A survival guide this certainly isn’t, but go along with it and treat it as jigsaw type puzzle drama and you won’t be disappointed. Because of the storyline, this has stood the test of time and could easily have been made yesterday. There are many flaws for the critical -The occasional fence line or telephone pole can be see in distant shots and some of the rough paths look more like nature trails, and it does lose pace in the second half as a 'storyline' tries to develop, but otherwise this is riveting entertainment and therefore a recommended *****.
It's hard to believe that Lost will be 10 years old this year, and in the last decade I have yet to see anything on TV that rivals the brilliance of this opening season to the successful and highly acclaimed saga.
The plot focuses on the survivors of a plane crash who find themselves trapped on a mysterious island, and we get to see Lost's trademark flashbacks to the lives of the main characters and how they came to be on the doomed flight. There are plenty of twists and turns, and the gripping drama is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat.
The acting is superb and the cinematography is astounding at times. The casting is spot on and despite the fantasy of the situation, the characters are believable and varied. The special effects and sounds are also brilliant. and it is clear that Lost is truly a big budget and high quality US show.
There are plenty of interesting special features on the DVD to keep you entertained even after watching the 25 episodes.
Highly recommended and well worth sinking your time into.

This is the best TV series I've ever watched.
Lost is a show that I become totally addicted to, rarely do I watch a TV show religiously because I get bored too easily. Lost changed that and from the Pilot I needed to watch every episode, each episode getting better and the series becoming more interesting with the twists, back stories and the emotions involved it will have you crying, laughing and happy.
It's also a very timely show with the recent mysterious disappearance of many airlines.
This is the best TV show I've ever seen.. forget your game of thrones, the walking dead.. Lost is and will forever be the daddy - you will never find it boring !
