Blog post{Self-portrait}
Maybe it was the ocean that convinced me to go.
So I could stand at the edge of a place it was okay to be still.
Pack layers, she said, ocean weather is unpredictable.
I rolled up sweaters, pulled a wooly hat from a closet, and hoped she was right.
I wanted to hide in layers and folds.

Blog postShe was one of those ever-so-rare kind of people.
She never believed the success and accomplishments of others would take away from her own.
She gave her expertise generously and offered her support freely.
She was one of the greatest mentors I've ever had.
And when I lost her, I didn't know where to go.
I haven't been able to write the way I want to, or take the chances I hoped I would.

Blog postIf you've spent anytime hanging out with me here, you already know my not-so-secret secret.
I like making school lunches, and I use bentos.
Hold on, hold on. Before you start accusing me of making dinosaur sandwiches and Minecraft creepers out of cheese, I'm more of a practical make it healthy and bite-sized and they will eat it kind of parent.
And it has been a journey for me. I went through a phase of resentment and loathing, too.6 years ago Read more

Stories that inspire, entertain, and make you laugh ’til you pee. Plus martinis! And not just any-old-martinis—these ones were designed just for moms!
These tales of Wonder, Woe and WTF?! share a little glimpse into the lives of other moms, who are a lot like you. Through their tales, we’re reminded to savour the little things (like capturing extra morning snuggles), to let go of the stresses (they won’t be in that unfortunate phase forever), and to be grateful for the laughs that the unexpected brings (because laughing is better than crying and it may be the only workout our abs get!).
So shake up an easy-to-make martini, put your feet up (quickly, before the kids find you) and join us on our journey as we toast to the many clink-worthy moments that motherhood brings.
Shannon Day is a former bartender-turned-teacher. She’s now a story-maker, martini-shaker, and fun-times project undertaker. Find her at MartinisAndMotherhood.com.
Tara Wilson writes about autism and ADHD in between knocking things over at the grocery store and chasing the squirrels in her head. Find her at DontLickTheDeck.com.

Bumptabulous: 20 Moms Expose Pregnancy
Apr 9, 2013
by
20 Moms
$2.99
20 laugh-out-loud-funny moms describe their pregnancy miracle, revealing how to get pregnant, the great and gross about pregnancy, the truth about childbirth and how their life changed once their little womb-hijacker finally came out.
From the book:
"I was 15 when my doctor told me, 'Rachael, you will never have children.' I grew up thinking that I was going to be a lonely spinster with cats because my uterus was too scarred." (Rachael Miller);
"I gave birth to all three of my sons in the same hospital with the exact same anesthesiologist, whom they are all named after." (J.S.);
"Before kids, my husband would fill the tub with bubbles and wash my hair to get me in the mood. But after kids? Well, now my husband fills up the sink with bubbles and washes the dishes to get me in the mood." (Susie Johnson);
Enjoy the stories of Becky Rappoccio, Christine Corbridge, Crystal Clancy, De'Vonne Batts, Erin Cohen, Hillary Chybinski, J.S., Julie Weckerlein, Louise Gleeson, Mandi Welbaum, Ellie Hirsch, Nancy Salgueiro, Nicole Keck, Rachael Miller, Rani Shah, Steph Calvert, Susie Johnson, Tat and Alinka Rutkowska.
They've been pregnant more than 50 times in total and they sure do know what they are talking about, or rather writing about as all of them are bloggers and have been entertaining their readers for years. They will make you laugh, they will make you sigh, they will make you think and some might even make you cry!
Get to know them one by one and follow their blogs after the read - it sure is an exciting one as many details have never been released before! No two stories are the same - we have different nationalities, different backgrounds, different number of children, different approaches to life.
What the ladies do have in common is the ability to sit back, reflect and laugh. Not only that - as busy as they are, they managed to find the time to share the details of their conception, pregnancy, childbirth and the brand new life a.c. (after child).
If you're looking for pregnancy books for first time moms or pregnancy books for dads, this will be an excellent addition to your bookshelf.
