Arianna Morgan:
She never thought life would beat her down. She never imagined the man she loved doing it either. Starting over in a small town was her only option. Once she arrived in Carson Falls, she realized her life never really began until the locals, one specifically, proved that there are things that can mend your spirit.
River Bradshaw:
He never thought the mother of his child would walk away. He also never thought she would end up dead. Living in a small town his whole life, he knew what his life’s meaning was, or so he thought. Once a stranger from out of town started teaching his daughter piano, she proved that life had much more in store for him.
This is a story about loss, love, and how music can teach us about ourselves.

5 out of 5 stars
The story Love in Carson Falls (The Falls #1) by Paisleigh Aumack is a contemporary romance book. This is a beautiful story of two people who find each other and just maybe the reason they can move on from their past. This is the story of Arianna Morgan and River Bradshaw. Arianna never thought that she would find herself in the situation she is in. She finds herself beat down by life and needing to find a new place for herself. She finds her way to Carson Falls. River Bradshaw grew up in Carson Falls and thought that he had it all. Until life showed him how unpredictable it can be.. Now his days are filled with his job and taking care of his daughter. Then a stranger shows up in town and his world begins to change. What is in store for these two?
I quickly fell in love with this book and the characters of Arianna and River. The story is one that does start out heartbreaking and then goes on to show how a healing process begins. I have so much empathy for Arianna and the situation that she found herself in. With help, she has relocated to Carson Falls and quickly finds that the town is nothing like she is used to. The people are friendly and truly want to help each other. A couple of them immediately befriend Arianna. I have lived in both a large city and a small town and if truth be told I would take the small town over the large city any day. Arianna is also someone that wants to make her own way in life. Then she meets River. While their first meeting is a bit uncomfortable, they both find themselves seeing more of each other when Arianna agrees to teach piano to River’s daughter. She hasn’t felt this way about a man in a long time, will Arianna take a chance and see where a relationship with River could lead or will her past be too much of a hurdle to overcome?
River has grown up in Carson Falls and has made a life for himself there along with his daughter. While he goes about his normal routine the past is always there. Then he meets Arianna. She is new in town and she has a definite effect on him when they first meet. His thoughts are only of her and he starts to try to win her heart. What he finds is a woman what is haunted by the past and he does his best to assure her that he is someone she can trust. He is protective of her and sees it as his responsibility to make sure she feels safe. Will he be successful in winning over Arianna’s heart?
This is an awesome book about love, loss, and hope. It is the first book that I have read by the author and as this is book one in the series I know it will not be the last. She has written a story that will touch your heart and I found myself thinking about it long after I had finished. Find out if Arianna and River get their HEA! This book does include some scenes of violence, a sensitive subject matter, and adult situations. It would be for those 18 years of age or older.
Everything is there from the great writing style and flow, enough of a description to show what’s going on without being too onerous, and the incredible interactions between the characters that was so easy to become invested in.
The Prologue dumps us straight into the deep end where we meet Arianna Morgan suffering the worst of beatings from her partner of seven years. Her only crime was pregnancy. Barely surviving with only her life, the police are hunting down her wealthy and highly respected ex-partner, while she moves to Carson Falls, a small town, to stay with Penelope Sloane, the only person who has ever been her true friend.
Also living in Carson Falls, and good friends with Penelope, is River Bradshaw, the local fire brigade Battalion Chief, and his daughter, Cadence. This Daddy/Daughter combination are beautiful, and it is hard to believe that any wife or mother would dump and run, to live a life of physical and substance abuse, ultimately losing her life. Despite the efforts of Penelope and others, River is in no way interested in another relationship – he’s concentrating on his daughter.
I really enjoyed the headings of each chapter that essentially introduced the heart of the subject matter, whether it be meeting River and his ‘Frozen’ movie-mad daughter Cadence in Chapter two: Frozen, or my personal favourite, Chapter Nine: Reckless, where River says to Arianna in the club, “Bird, you have to know, what’s about to happen, will turn you on. I dance like I make love.” “And how is that?” My words were out before I even knew why or what I asked. “Reckless.” A smirk graced his face.”
The chemistry between River and Ari is always present and intense, yet he never pushes her, as seeing her occasional panic attacks have devastated him. River says he’s not perfect, but yeah, he really is, both as a prospective friend and lover, and, as a single father to the vivacious Cady. Unfortunately for Ari, darkness seems to follow her, causing her to question her worth to those in her new life.
There is so much to love about this story, and I could post quotes forever. But what I will say, is that your time and money are well spent with River, Cadence and Ari. The secondary characters really add to the story, and in getting to know Penelope, we see her ‘complicated’ interactions with Braxton, a long time friend of River and owner of the local club, Reckless. While he’s busy spreading his favours around, he’s also busy minding Penelope’s business. I need that next book, like now, to find out what the hell is going on. I really recommend this book to all who enjoy a hot single father, firefighter, contemporary romance with the requisite HEA.
Paisleigh, you started writing cos you had a story to tell. I listened because you did write it, and I loved it. Seriously, 5 Stars.

Love in Carson Falls is the first book in The Falls Series by Paisleigh Aumack. I had not read anything by Ms. Aumack before and I wasn’t sure what to expect from her work. But when I saw the beautiful cover and read the blurb, I was intrigued and so I decided to give the book a chance to win me over. I am very pleasantly surprised by what I read as the story is really beautiful, quite emotional, and it completely captured my heart. I LOVED it, and now I can’t wait to explore more of Ms. Aumack’s work.
Arianna Morgan (Ari) has fled an abusive relationship and found herself on the other side of the country, in a small town called Carson Falls. She chose this place to regroup after her ordeal and hoped it was somewhere she could get a fresh start- the fact that her best friend Penny lives in the town was even better. Penny is a great friend who really wants to help Ari get back on her feet again. Driving into town for the first time was like entering a scene on a Hallmark card. Ari can’t believe how lovely the town is, or how friendly, caring and welcoming the town’s folk are. She immediately feels at home in Carson Falls and easily finds a job. Ari begins to settle into her new life and is excited about rediscovering life, on her own terms.
River Bradshaw is a fireman, who has a beautiful five year old daughter, Cadence (Cady). He never expected to be a single dad, but he loves his little girl and would do anything for her. What Cady wants more than anything is to learn how to play the piano and River wants to grant her wish, he just needs to find someone who can teach Cady to play. So when the gorgeous stranger, who recently moved to town, agrees to teach his little girl- he is a little apprehensive, but also can’t help feeling an intense attraction. Can he prove to Ari that not all men are monsters? Will Ari learn to trust again? Will this beautiful town and the close-knit community help Ari heal and find the happiness she so desperately deserves?
What a wonderful start to a new series! This story is really enthralling and was so well crafted by Ms. Aumack.
The characters were really well developed and endearing. Ms. Aumack captured their personalities, quirks and flaws brilliantly. She has a very creative way with her words which brought Carson Fall and all the characters to life.
I fell in love with these people and the town, and now I am really looking forward to the next book in The Falls series.
Thank you Ms. Aumack!

Ok, so this is my problem with this book........
I found it EXTREMELY difficult to understand Arianna's "minimal" devastation over the loss of her unborn child. She was pregnant for 5 months! That's a long time in pregnancy. You're so attached and in love, to then have your baby delivered stillborn, the pain would be unbearable. Putting myself in her shoes, I wouldn't be able to move, eat, sleep, basically function, for I don't know how long. Yet this girl moves, finds a job and feels attracted to the town's widowed fireman within a week of her loss. Sure, there are a couple of sentimental moments, but she basically bounces back like the worst thing that could ever happen to you, NEVER HAPPENED.
I don't understand. My extremely strong reaction to this storyline might be a very personal reaction, I don't know? I just couldn't relate nor understand this characters lack of emotion.
