About the author

“He writes with both muscle and heart”—New York Times bestselling author Gregg Olsen
New York Times bestselling author and award-winning journalist Steve Jackson has written twelve non-fiction books in true crime, history and biography genres; he has also written eighteen crime fiction thrillers for the Times bestselling "Butch Karp Series" in collaboration with former New York assistant district attorney Robert K. Tanenbaum.
As of January 2021, he is writing three non-fiction books: COAL COUNTRY KILLING, FINDING ANASTASIA, and SAVING ANNIE (WildBlue Press); several other non-fiction works are in the proposal stage. And he is finishing his first literary fiction novel, ISLAND OF WOMEN. The publishers of his previous books include: HarperCollins, Center Street, Simon & Schuster, Pinnacle, Atrium, Kensington, De Capo, and WildBlue Press.
Steve is also the co-owner of indie publisher WildBlue Press (wildbluepress.com) with partner Michael Cordova. As of July 2018, WildBlue Press will have published more than 75 books by fifty authors in true crime, crime fiction, romance, history, current events, memoir and business genres after less than four years in business. Many of these books have become award-winning bestsellers, and several have been optioned for film and television productions. The company is rapidly expanding both the number of authors and titles, and will be moving into other genres in 2019.
His first non-fiction book, MONSTER, a true crime, was published in October 1998 and within two weeks became a New York Times bestseller. Several of his other non-fiction and thriller books have also made the NYT and other lists. In 2003, his World War II dramatic narrative, LUCKY LADY, received The Colorado Book Award, best biography/history, from the Colorado Center for the Book; Lucky Lady was also the runner-up that year for the Admiral Samuel Morrison Naval History Award.
Steve is also the co-owner of indie publisher WildBlue Press (wildbluepress.com) which he started with partner Michael Cordova in the summer of 2014. As of January 2021, WildBlue Press will have published more than 150 books by nearly 100 authors in true crime, crime fiction, romance, history, current events, memoir and business genres. Many of these books have become award-winning bestsellers, and several have been optioned for film and television productions. The company is rapidly expanding both the number of authors and titles, and will be moving into other genres in 2021.
In June 2013, Jackson joined forensic investigative team NecroSearch International (the group featured in NO STONE UNTURNED) searching for the remains of the Grand Duke Mikhail Romanov in Perm, Russia as part of his research for an upcoming dramatic narrative history FINDING ANASTASIA. Honored with NecroSearch membership in 2014, he and the team returned to Russia to continue the search every year since until 2020 (when the epidemic curtailed travel).
Jackson grew up in Hawaii and Colorado. He graduated in 1979 from Colorado State University with a BA in Journalism. A newspaper journalist for 25 years, he worked in locales as varied as Montana, Hawaii, Guam, Micronesia, Indonesia, Indiana, Washington D.C., Florida, Oregon and Colorado. During his career with newspapers, he received numerous national and regional awards for feature writing and investigative reporting.
Outside of writing, his interests include backpacking, fly fishing, skiing, surfing (poorly), guitar (sort of), reading, softball, martial arts (black belt in jujitsu and a brown belt in aikido), music, wine, whiskey (especially bourbon), beer (preferably craft) and spending time with his family and friends.

And that's pretty bad, to say the least.
In any event, Steve Jackson does it again, love his writing style, makes one feel as though they're in the courtroom or listening in on a private conversation, not in a stalker way, but in making the reader feel as though they are there.
He thought he was smarter then Bundy, yet his body count was a lot lower. He's a joke, a con man who could only kill women because a man would've hurt him.
My condolences go out to the families of these victims.May you all meet again in Heaven.
I really enjoyed this book, Steve gave a very nice description of those poor victims and their families. Its definitely a must read for all true crime fans, as all his books are.Thank you Author Steve Jackson for another great read!!
The book contains actual photos of the criminal and the victims. No graphic murder photos are shown. Graphic photos are not necessary as this book details the truly horrific details of how these women were killed.
There is such a dichotomy between the despicable human being he was while engaged in conning women out of their life savings, brutally killing and raping them in contrast to the man at trial that acted as if he was willing to accept any punishment in return for doing what he did. This is one person that should never, ever, under any circumstances be released. He is able to look too normal and fit into good society when in reality he doesn't deserve to be among people who understand what it is to have compassion and love.

I would encourage every woman to read this. It sure was an eye awakener for me. I can't understand the evil, one can have.
No doubt, he was a cold blooded killer.
