How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

4.0 out of 5 starsIt feels unfinished
Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2020
I didn’t want to like this book because I felt book three left me hanging but it grew on me. Unfortunately this one feels unfinished to me also. The storyline is good but Because of the way this series is written I can’t recommend them.

3.0 out of 5 starsOk Series

I read the entire four book series because we vacation on Nantucket most years. I was looking for references to familiar sites, streets and restaurants. There are barely any. Furthermore, the author refers to Nantucket as an island off of Maine. This is totally incorrect; it is off of Massachusetts! That lack of attention to detail turned me off a bit. The characters are interesting. Their relationships and how they grow are fairly well developed. These are very “quick read books” so if you’re looking for a fast distraction, these might be the right books for you.

1.0 out of 5 stars Big typo!

I would have liked the book better if the proofreading/fact checking dept. did their job! The author used to live in the northeast so why the big typo? Huge! Nantucket is located in Massachusett NOT Maine! Arrgh!

I was very disappointed in Book 4. It was so far removed from the first three books in that I enjoyed following the characters in them. This should have been book 1. It felt ou of sync.

2.0 out of 5 stars OKDER COUPLE ROMANCE, Drags a bit
Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2021

I liked the story in general, especially as it is an older couple romance story that doesn't read too unrealistic. I did not like the back and forth of the chapters. It sounds like she resolves her issues with the cheating husband and makes her new life and then on the current time she goes off to Portugal because he asks her to stay in Argentina with him? She had resolved nothing! All those early time chapters were a drag and unnecessary. She hung up on the husband to start her new life but we never know how that got resolved; later she still has not let that go? Also, she falls apart at her brother’s death & leaves the widow to take care of her inn while she goes halfway down the world? And the author never introduces the brother? He is a cartoon!

Toni's journey was an alright read but after she finds her husband with another women and she leaves him. She goes forward taking time for herself in another country. She meets new people and spends a few months away from home and meets a nice man, then runs from him. Mean while we bounce back home to the time before Toni left her home. Then we go back to her life in the other country with the nice man and new friends and we continually bounce from the past to the future then back to the past. And you never find out what happened to the nice man she met in the other country.

The back and forth in time with 18 year difference was hard to follow. Then the ending for the 18 years later was not resolved at all. Not cohesive, maybe in another book or two!

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard Story to Follow

It was hard to follow the storyline. Toni’s character was interesting; however, I felt the story was all over the place. This may just be me as I tend to prefer books that have a definite beginning, middle and end. May read this again at another time to see if it was helter skelter as the first time through.

2.0 out of 5 stars Really disappointed

I recently read 2 other books in the series by this author that were very well written. Thoroughly enjoyed them. This book I had a hard time believing it was written by the same author. I don’t know if the author switched publishers/editors, but she needs to go back to her old one. The storyline is all over the place, and the use of tenses in the writing is terrible. Couldn’t finish the book it was so poorly written.

I really wanted to love this book—after all, I love Nantucket! However the going back and forth from 2000 to 2018 was so difficult for me to follow. I stuck it out, though, because I was determined! In the end, I was shocked when the author ended the book at 2000, and left me hanging on the resolution of the relationships in 2018.

The first 3 books were fairly good but this one is weird. The story line is good but should have been book 1 not 4. The book jump back and forth and the writing is strange. I'm probably going to end this book and move to 5.
