Of course, she's cheated, too, but Charlotte hires a private detective to catch Curtis in the act. A farcical array of misfortunes (a death, a near-deadly stabbing, etc.) rock the cast as the book lumbers toward its conclusion. Kimberla Lawson Roby really came through on this one. Many surprises and twists that were not expected. I like the fact that she took some of the spotlight from Curtis and introduced new characters to the storyline. There is also another side of Charlotte displayed. Now she is more confident and secure in her lifestyle with Curtis, or so she seems. We get a chance to see Charlotte as more than a conniving home wrecker and deceitful manipulator. There is a softer side to her, a gentle side, emotional, and loving woman underneath all that rage. With her children she tries to be the parent they need her to be.

Curtis is spending a lot more time away from home promoting his new book. He is giving her everything she hoped for, the money, house, cars, and prestige of being Mrs. Curtis Black. With all those material possessions Charlotte thought she would be the happiest woman on earth but to her surprise she was not. Their daughter Marissa has turned out to be a troubled child with signs of schizophrenia. Ironically enough Curtis nor Charlotte has any traits in their family but Charlottes ex does.

There are so many lies between the Blacks they are starting to lose count. Curtis has everyone believing he is a changed man but Charlotte knows her husband better than everyone else. He begins to get so deep into his lies that he has no choice but to confess everything to Charlotte. Really enjoyed this one!

Well, the Blacks are back; and this latest saga centers primarily around Charlotte and her best friend, Janine. Charlotte is up to her usual deception; this time, she is more determined than ever to keep Marissa's true paternity a secret from Curtis. But when Marissa starts exhibiting signs of mental instability, Charlotte's worries increase that Curtis may discover that the psychotic Aaron is actually Marissa's biological father. Meanwhile, Janine's personal life is also in turmoil. After having finally decided to rid herself of her loser boyfriend, she finds that it's not quite that easy; Antonio refuses to leave, and worse yet, begins dealing drugs out of her home. When Janine finally takes a stand, she may find that she could possibly lose everything....

Throughout there is drama, in true Black fashion. Tragedy strikes the Black household, Curtis admits to a whopper, and someone from the past shows up to cause even more trouble (if that's even possible)....

Although not the Curtis-focused novel that we have become accustomed to in this series, there is still plenty of action to keep Roby's fans properly engrossed. A good read.

This hypocrite is a reader's magnet to see how much immorality this man of the cloth can wield novel after novel!!! I am fascinated with this literary devil that Ms. Lawson continues to creatively weave!!! My fellow reader Anna loves to be my "reading baton' as I pass the Curtis Black novels to her after my leg of our voracious reading race!!! We are both happy winners after each novel ends!!!

Another great read from Kimberla Lawson Roby. It is part of a series. If you have not the read the entire series, the author does a great job filling you in on what you missed from the previous novels. However I love this series and recommend you read them all. I started in the middle of the series and have now gone back to read the earlier stories. This author has a great storytelling method that draws you into her novels and makes you feel like you know her characters. You will often love them and hate them all within the same novel. This book is definitely a page turner that you will not want to put down.

I’m actually glad Marissa died because her life would have been horrible, inheriting her father’s traits and she most definitely would have been a danger to her family.

Kimerla has outdone herself with this one. I actually had to sympathize with
Charlotte in reading this novel. She's dealing with her troubled daughter, raising two children alone at home. Her husband the reverend if off traveling all over the country promoting his book. So Charlotte can only hope and pray that he remains faithful to her. The good Reverend Curtis Black has been known to let his eyes wonder in the past, you know. Then there's Charlotte's friend, Janine, who's in denial while dealing with a verbally abusive boyfriend. Janine does not realize that the situation can ignite into something even more dangerous. Charlotte is made out to seem to be the most sane of them all in this book. And to think how Mrs. Rev. Curtis Black had been "straight trippin'(slang - meaning acting very crazy) in the last two books as the conniving character, Charlotte we all know and love. I must say, Kimberla Lawson Roby turns you around and makes your head spin wildly when you read Love and Lies Love and Lies

Kimberla takes her reader on a Roller coaster ride where the heights frighten us to death and the lows bring us to tears. I could not put this novel down because the author makes us live in her world, battle with her characters, find disbelief in some of their actions, but always find our way back through the maze they create. Lies, betrayal, manipulations, deceit all work their evil magic and we are caught in the web with them. My only criticism is that there are too many conflicts ...so much so that the world loses some of its credibility.

Very good read ~ Thoroughly enjoyed the storyline, I really have grown fond of the Rev Curtis Black, the 1st Lady Black (Charlotte), not so much LOL, however, she is definitely a funny character in the story ~ I'm not sure why she has a hard time telling the truth and being honest which keeps her in "hot water". Really enjoying the Curtis Black series. Looking forward to reading the other novels in this series.

I recommend to start with the first title "Casting the First Stone". It is very interesting to see the development of the characters involved.
