5.0 out of 5 starsThe acting and music did it for me

Fun, rough, raw, happy, sad, sexy, and everything else. Loving Johnny Flynn in things. The artistry in this film was so enjoyable. No reason not to watch it. I will watch it again for the music and see anything I missed. One of my favorite characters was the peanut butter.

1.0 out of 5 starsPosh vs. Working Class Families
Verified purchase
Main female character is nauseating. Rich, white, mousy waif that looks like her face will crumble if she laughs too hard. The scene where she acts appalled to be served fish and chips early in the day is when I officially wrote her off. The wealthy people are completely predictable and boring. Working Class family is ace. THE soundtrack is all hipster trash. I love all things UK but this movie truly sucks. Don't waste your time.

5.0 out of 5 starsWhy are non-American romance movies so romantic?
Verified purchase
When I watch a satisfying romantic movie - drama or comedy - I wonder why American-made romance movies are so unsatisfying and always predictable. I can't figure out if it is the consumer or the producer or I guess both. In this movie, the acting is wonderful - Johnny Flynn is always a delight. The storyline is fun and sad and totally satisfying. Make sure you watch beyond the final credits.

3.0 out of 5 starsrambling, incoherent, wonky, but ultimately unsatisfying

This has the makings of an unbearably quirky yet lovable romcom, like What If, but the writing and execution ultimately fail. The plot isn't cohesive or compelling, and the viewer is simply left with a fly-on-the-wall view of an odd couple and their families. I would recommend watching something else

What a charming, refreshing film, so raw and real. The two leads have great chemistry. The family members are a hoot.
