I am not a fan. The actual words of the Lord's prayer are simple. I learned the prayer as a small child. It gave Jesus's example and recommendation of how to speak to God. It has comforted me, thrilled me and amazed me. It was sung at my wedding and at my husband's funeral. It is words for the ages and needs no dumbing down.

I really wanted to love this book because it is the Lord's prayer written in a way accessible to children. However, when I read it, I found myself a little confused. I think it is so brief and my son couldn't quite grasp what was happening. That being said, I have read it to him twice since and he has been happy to sit and listen. The illustration is STUNNING - probably one of the best I have seen in terms of beauty - it essentially follows a group of children who frolic in a field and then go home. Again beautiful imagery, but somewhat too poetic for my son to grasp anything concrete. I would still buy this book knowing this, but perhaps making the book a little longer would allow the author to explore the themes of the Our Father in a more accessible way for children.

I really wanted to like this book. I was looking for a good Bible Story book, preferably with realistic-looking pictures and in board book format, for my littlest children.

The illustrations in this book, whilst not realistic, are still very nice and wholesome. What lets the book down, is the fact that it is so "dumbed down". The beginning of the Lord's Prayer should be "Our Father" is replaced in this book with "Dear Daddy". It seems a tad too irreverant to me. Again, I wanted to like it, but I just don't. I wanted to return it, but it would simply cost too much. Likely, it will end up in the charity shop. For anyone looking for a good hardback Bible stories book, I can recommend "Tell Me the Stories of Jesus" by Caleb Crider.

I did not like this book. It is supposed to teach very small children an easy version of the Lord's prayer. However it barely resembles the actual scripture. The first line alone 'Hello Daddy, we want to know you' immediately tells you this will be difficult to read to a small child. Daddy to most children is of course their daddy, how confusing is it to have another daddy!
So - confusing from the start. I would not give it to anyone as a present.
However the other book 'Found' is excellent!
